I'm looking for an ignition switch, Kubota part # 67980-55150. It's $100 from Kubota. Are there any part numbers that will interchange? Got to be something out there that will work for less money.

GF1800 with a D722 diesel. Positions are off, run, preheat, and start.
Thanks

Very unlikely that that switch will cross over to anything generic/ aftermarket because it was only used on 6 models.

I looked and I didn't find anything.

You will not find cross referance lists for Kubota parts. Many switches for another model or brand will work fine,,,,,,,,BUT,,,,,,,, one must have moderate mechanical skill along with some electrical experience to install without letting the smoke out.
Someone will eventually ask why you think your switch is bad so why do you?

Looking at pictures of a very common 6C040-55452 switch that you can get aftermarket vs your part number, I have to wonder if the only difference is the pigtail found on your switch. If that's the case, you could cut off your existing connector and crimp on some female QD terminals and plug each conductor onto the individual male contacts. It may be worth a shot buying a cheap one off eBay just to test it.

Switch works, it's just rusty looking. I'm doing a restoration on a GF1800, so everything needs to look like new. Electrical is no problem, retired after 30+ years of large aircraft electric and radio systems.
Seems like the trick is going to be finding a switch that has the correct positions- OFF, RUN, Preheat, Start, with the Preheat and start positions spring loaded back to run.
Thanks

You are spot on so adapting a switch shouldn't be a problem with your experience. Unless it must appear and function same as original you can use a secound momentary switch for glow plugs or starter if you are not succesful finding a switch with all positions. That is to say a conventional off ,run start ignition switch can be used by connecting start position to glow plug relay and use a separate pushbutton for starter or vs vs. A possible fly in the ointment is electric fuel shutoff but that is simple to convert to manual like used for decades on diesel tractors. Actually one could use a common ignition switch connecting accessory position to glow plug circuit. To start tractor turn switch to acc for predetermined period, then switch is turned to starter position until engine starts, when key is released it returns to run position. On most diesel pickups turning key to run starts timed glow plug relay then when light gos off key is moved to starter position. Salvaging glow plug relay from a pickup would alow use of a simple switch with .off ,run and spring loaded start but again the fuel shut off would be addressed separately.

can you post any markings / numbers / id that are on the existing switch housing?

maybe Kubota didn't make the switch and that someone like grote, wells, or delta or even someone from the other sided of the world makes it. With original housing markings versus those from Kubota parts book making a cross reference could be much easier.

cheers

The switch part number I posted does that.

Maybe even try one from a BX, looks to have the same electrical connector. 66101-55200

Thanks to everyone that replied. I did a lot of scrubbing and a bit of polishing. The nut and the key slot shined right up. (Surprised me!) I got the plastic shroud around the column cleaned up and got that back together. Next on the list is the steering axle- check the bushings and end play. Then the really fun part- bodywork and paint.
Thanks again.

You can repay the favor by posting your reliable source of paint that isn't 3x the price of New Holland and John Deere if you find one.
