Hey Bearbait nice buck.

If you don't mind what are some dimensions on him?

Estimated weight on foot?

Gross score of antlers?

He looks like a small cow, our deer here NC are much smaller. I have only weighed a couple of deer in my life out of 100 plus that weighed 180#'s or more, to be exact 3.

Just curious if you don't mind sharing.

Since the bodies are so much different than ours hard for me to judge antler size. I have the same problem when we travel to Illonis to bow hunt. However here it is the opposite the antlers can look bigger than they are because the bodies are smaller.

Thanks for you time.

Jay
Jay I'm not going to be much help to you. I'm sure he would have been over 200lbs field dressed but as to how much I wouldn't like to guess. As for what he would score I'm not sure, my friends would have a pretty good idea but they are still at the camp. Hopefully next year I'll be able to tell you exactly but those big guys aren't easy to come by. A buddy of mine who owns the camp got a beauty, an 8 point weighing 193 field dressed and another bud got a 9 point weighing 180.

Hey BB thanks any way I was just curious and love to learn.

One thing I have noticed the further you travel North the more the weight of the deer seems to be important.

Down here where the weight is less the inches of horns is more priority, my biggest is 180# on foot and that was way back in 1996.

Rack size is a big consideration here as well. One thing I noticed between the states I've lived in. Further south, the smaller the deer size. In Florida, they are the size of my german shepherd or smaller. But usually larger racks and more points. The further north, the deer are larger but fewer points and smaller racks usually. May be perception as well due to the larger size of the deer.

Racks in the southern states are huge. :D They have way better feed. Guys have been chasing this monster around my area. Coworker was hunting 1/2 mile south of my house for that bugger a couple years ago. Heard the dogs barking and looked out back as I was putting them out. Saw what looked like a couple tree branches running down the fence line (north side of the house). Once it opened up out of the trees I realized it was that monster. It's rack was huge!!!!. Texted my coworker and told him he might as well pack it up. That buck was headed for down town :D

My buddy has beauties hanging on the wall of the camp. His area has aways produced heavy deer, even the spike I took this year was close to 140 dressed, not big but mighty tasty. I tried to hold out this year for that big 10 that was coming in but just ran out of time. One of the guys that drops in from a camp down the road took a 12 point, 231lbs dressed, very nice deer.
