Cleaned my water separator, tried to reset by turning on with regen buttons pressed but to no avail. Don't really want to take it to the dealer, as I am sure it is something simple

Does the tractor run ok?

You can clear the codes by pulling the negative battery cable off for a few minutes.

if they codes are OBDII...
p0087 , What Does the P0087 Code Mean? Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0087 stands for “Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low.” It may get logged by the PCM when the pressure inside the fuel rail or the fuel system dives below the minimum levels needed to supply the engine with enough fuel to run properly.
p0088 says it's too high !!!

so.. it could be the sensor is bad or faulty
or.. it could mean engine has to run long enough for computer to read stuff right...

runs <1800
sounds like there's a 'fuel delivery problem' OR the computer has decided to 'play it safe' and NOT allow you to damage the engine by high revs ??

you hope the WSM will have a detailed section on these codes ,reasons, cures....

?? can you actually clear the codes, run and they come back ??

I am going to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and actually drive the tractor around. I have been sitting in the shed this whole time, maybe it just needs running. I hate these computers, I know we can't stop technology but I had an old Ford 8N that purred like a kitten, but it didn't have the HP or the ability to have a front end loader. Showing my age now.

Looking at the parts diagram, it shows a fuel filter. Did you change that too?

Well, I disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes; still showing the codes and not revving past 1900 rpms. I drove it down the hill at my place and when I started back up the hill it died. My tractor only has 56 hours on it and I had the dealership do the 50 hr. maintenance on the tractor. I think I can load it on my trailer and let them fix it. I notice while disconnecting the battery that the fuel filter looks to be the original filter; according to the manual the fuel filter should have been changed at the 50 hr. maintenance. I still have the work order number so they can look to see if I was charged for a new filter. Thanks for all the advice but I get too frustrated working on vehicles with computer sensors, etc.

I can adjust points, change spark plugs, set the timing, make adjustments to carburetors but this is all over my head. I think they make cars, trucks, tractors so damn complicated to work on; all I can do now is change oil and brake pads. Anything else, I need help. Just frustrated, been a long hot day.

Thanks again everyone.

most of the time if you get a P0088, the rail pressure sensor is damaged and will need to be replaced.

there are a few reasons for 0087 and 0088. Injector issues were the "normal" cause but there's also a few other possibilities.

Let the dealer handle it especially if it's under 5 years old. Emissions warranty is 5 years as I recall.

Your frustration is shared by a lot of seasoned Kubota technicians. And really anyone in the diesel repair industry. Modern common rail Diesels are so overly complicated that it takes a rocket surgeon to figure them out. And a lot of money to replace broken/damaged stuff. That reason alone is one of many reasons shipping costs are out of sight. Modern trucks all use a version of the common rail system and a lot of them use a diesel partiulate filter (DPF) and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Those components need maintenance and sometimes repair, and ain't none of it inexpensive. Trucks break, and they don't just eat the costs to fix em.

You can clear the codes by pulling the negative battery cable off for a few minutes.
Disconnecting the battery cable will not clear the codes. You can only clear them from the hour meter using the ReGen buttons if the failure has been corrected and Diagmaster is required to clear them from the ECU.
