I am searching in vain for a large ballast box for my L5740. I have a 900 pound Western Prodigy snow plow that I need to counter balance and can't seem to find a box that holds enough material to weigh 1200-1400 pounds. Can someone help me find one? Thanks.

Concrete weighs between 17-20lbs per gallon.

If you calculate given the highest 20lbs/gal it comes out to be roughly 1100lbs for a 55gal drum.

Or if you want to do cubic feet, its roughly 150lbs per cubic foot.

1 cubic foot ~ 7.48 gal. So 55gal is ~7.35 cubic feet.

150lbs x 7.35 cubic feet = 1102.5

Here's mine, added 400lbs of steel in bottom then filed 2/3 with cement. Weighs 1100lbs and you have the top of barrel to use as a carry all plus two pvc pipes for shovel, rake etc. Also added a hitch reciever and was cheap to make.

Thanks for all the info. I was talking to my brother in law about my needs and he said he has a stainless steel box with a hinged lid that he got as part of a surplus military auction that measures 2.5' x 2.25' x 2'. He thinks it is 10 gauge stainless. There are a couple of holes and vents in it bot they can be easily plugged. All I have to do is turn some cat2 pins and a top lik bracket. I think it will work just fine. Thanks for the ideas and advice.

I like it. I might add the receiver hitch to mine.
