I have a friend, a 67 year old woman, who contracted it back in July. She went from feeling okay to very sick in a day. She was hospitalized for a week, but made it. I saw her a month later and she said she was still pretty weak, but slowly regaining her strength.
My niece had a cousin, a 24 year old young man who caught it in early September. He never wore a mask, went to bars and hangouts when they re-opened, never took any measures to protect himself or others. He died after 10 days in the hospital, the virus just destroyed his lungs. Too many young people think they are immortal.
The experience you relate about your niece's cousin is a rare experience. Did he have any underlying conditions? I ask because I recently had the virus and it felt no worse than a cold to me.

None that my niece knew of, and she saw him regularly. I saw him a few times at family cookouts, and he seemed like a fit, healthy young man. A real tragedy, shook up all of us who knew him.
We are still learning how this virus affects different people in very different ways. There is even evidence that blood type, type A in fact, can make a person more at risk for more severe symptoms.

I read that some time ago I read that some time ago about type A blood being more susceptible to the disease. I happen to be type A but my symptoms were no worse than a cold. I must be an atypical Type A.

We all were 18 years old 10 feet tall and bullet proof at one time. Age brings wisdom so they say, the bottom line is all people are different some get sick and die , some dont. Who is to say which is right which is wrong, some people recover from cancer, some from other things that kill. The point is we all die sooner or later, so ya just pays your money and takes your chances

Life is like a tape measure and the older you get, the shorter the distance to the end you get. No one lives forever. make the most out of your time here.

Looks like DJT has bested the disease and I'm fine with that.

It really does effect everyone differently. Our Bug Man mentioned that his aunt contracted it. She's 94, diabetic, compromised immune system, just had an amputation. She was Asymptomatic.

Wifes been taking care of a lady in her mid 90's that is Asymptomatic as well.

I work with college students and 90% of them either have no symptoms or very mild. A very few of them have bad colds and only a tiny handful are laid up in bed for several days feeling miserable. 100% of them have recovered completely.

Like the common flu. Some folks get really sick from it and some die while others get milder symptoms. I just had my 'old man' flu shot and got sicker than a dog from it...for about 12 hours and then it was over with.

In my view, Covid is here to stay like the common flu. Some will die from it, some will be fine.
