Many of us own one or many tractors other than Kubota(s).

Kind of tucked away in Off Topic, hopefully this is a good spot to make mention of your non-Kubota tractor without taking away from the OTT’s mission.

Three or four years in the making, this is my “other tractor,” a 1952 or ‘53-ish Minneapolis Moline ZAU. Came to my house last week. I put it to some use today to get a handle on how things are running.

My Grandfather and Father bought it used in 1957 or so. I’m the 3rd generation to have it.

I grew up with it on our farm.

I still drive my 2017 Chevy pickup with my thumbs outside the steering wheel because of that tractor.

Deutz 6206, 60 HP air cooled diesel.

Showed this young guy how it all worked, and then had him bring bales in off the field. When he got them all put into place he asked if he could put them back out there and do it again!

I bought this tractor from the man who purchased it new in 1966. I cleaned and brightened it up and later when he drove by the farm he asked me this next time he saw me if I bought another 730. He didn't recognize his own tractor. I later built the canopy.

It's a 730 Case.

Fantastic old iron!!! Something about them is timeless. Oldest one I ever had was the 53 Ford Jubilee, great machine - sold it to buy my first Kubota.

‘Cat - I remembered both of those, especially the 730. Several farmers in my ‘hood were all Case.

Almost bought a Case a few years back, inline 6 cylinder diesel with a Case-O-Matic 16 speed powershift (I think). Didn't, but should have.

Ford 1210 HST. Bought it used around '91 and repainted it in '02 and it needs it again. The original horizontal muffler rusted through so I went vertical. It was way too loud, so there's a Cherry Bomb grafted into the pipe now. Still a bit loud, but bearable. Going vertical did eliminate choking on the diesel exhaust. Finished refurb on an old 5' Caroni for it on Thursday.

My other and first tractor, John Deere 2030. It has been reliable lately, but usually something small will break on it if you look at it too hard.

My 3 'big' tractors are all Allis-Chalmers D-14s ( '57+'58). All implements are Snap-Coupler and a dream to use compared to 3pt and 'quik-hitch'.

The 1530 John Deere is already listed in my profile.

This was my first tractor, a 1988 John Deere 750 compact, bought new and served my every need for 28 years, until I sold it to make the down payment on my B2650. Very capable and bullet proof. Sort of wish I could have afforded to keep it.

My first (and last) foray into antique tractors, a 1938 Farmall F14. Bought it for $100, put probably $5000 into it, puttered with it for many years, sold it for $1300. Wrote the money off as entertainment as I greatly enjoyed the process of bringing it back to life, but it really wasn't very useful. The boys are my grandsons, now 21 and 29.

My current "second tractor" a Pasquali 986 of indeterminate age. Suspect late 70's/early 80's but haven't found a reference to confirm that. 20hp one-lunger diesel, true 4WD and a 9 speed. Mostly a trailer-tugger, but will go anywhere I have the intestinal fortitude to take it.

Early 80's Satoh S650G I took in on a barter deal as a non-runner missing some rather important parts, like the distributor. Again, really enjoyed puttering with it and getting it running again but had no need for it so sold it. Did manage to make a couple of bucks on this one.

In another thread I wrote about how old tractor iron can represent your family history.

I was tinkering with the governor linkage rod to get more high-end RPM on the 'Moline.

Long since forgotten, but I saw the marks my Grandfather filed into the throttle arm and mount to calibrate RPM's for a combine on oats.

To anyone else, those marks would mean nothing.

To me, they're priceless.....

He was born 1911 and passed 1988.

I'm named after him and thought of him fondly when I saw that.

Love you and miss you, Grandpa....

The current rod is an adjustable one I made to make the tractor usable for my father at his house.

It was tough to tweak a solid rod from from 40 miles, so I came up with this solution. It's worked quite well so far. Now that its at my house, I will work on it again.

I put the 'Moline to bed for a while. It's first winter here, and don't have the car port to cover it yet.

Disconnected the battery. My Dad usually ran it a couple times over the winter, but we all know that can actually be a problem if not done properly. I’m thinking of starting it again in the spring.

Worried about critters getting in there. Some say Irish Spring soap is a good repellent for mice. There's pieces of it around.

Didn't make the canvas too close or tight, but it won't blow off. Hopefully some air movement will discourage mice around the engine/wiring, and if not too tight underneath, I won't have skunks or raccoons under it.....

Resurrecting an old thread. I’ve been getting the Moline going each summer, but put it away for the winter.

I fired up the old Moline after work. Fired right off.

A long while ago someone asked the loader manufacturer (maybe @TheOldHokie?).

Finally remembered to ask my father. They bought it in 1958-59 at auction without the implement, and “had it put on.” He doesn’t recall anything beyond that. Never knew they had it put on.

We had trip forks/bucket and the blade we still have.

I’m planning to build a wooden frame to hang the booms from so I can detach the loader. Only the booms come off. The cylinders and all the frames stay with the tractor.

Then I can get the bare tractor near the garage to do some maintenance items. Easier without the blade on.

1991 John Deere 430 Diesel that I bought in 1993. Since I bought my BX, it's on permanent snow removal duty.

This is a DitchWitch R 40. I bought it sight unseen. I was needing a trencher, saw this one and contacted the Co. Had a phone discussion about it's use and history and we agreed on a price. He would deliver it (165 miles) and if it was as he described it I would pay that price and if it wasn't as he described he hauled it back. He had sent two pictures. They were Polaroid, and I still have them. It did not have a hoe at that time I found it a few months later. Has a Ford Industrial 40HP gas engine.
