Thought I could get across this little muddy spot without the mower dragging in the mud and acting like a 600 lb. anchor.

I was wrong.

I don't get the tractor stuck very often, but I'll have to winch this out tomorrow morning.

Had to walk about 1/2 mile back to the house...for my mistake. Worse than that, had to tell my Wife why I had to walk back. She got a good laugh out of that (no sympathy).

Probably have to disconnect the finish mower and winch it out first. Then recover the tractor.

If the clutch housing is under water (looks like it might not be) pull the drain on the clutch housing.
If any water comes out get a big can of WS40 and spray it in the hole with the engine running to circulate it all around in the, then let it drain again.

Done it a few times. Takes practice to master getting stuck. You'll get there, just keep at it. If you need hints, ask.

Looks soft but I don't see the ground too tore up in front of him.

My youngin had a similar mishap last year on our 3301. First time using the loader to get out. Took a bit because of my inexperience but I got it. However, it did have our box blade on at the time and not our finish mower. Imagine that makes a big difference.

With sympathies for the circumstance and an appreciation for irony, that "little muddy spot" has at least a foot of standing water. Leaves me wondering how closely you eyeballed the situation before taking the plunge. Worry not, most everyone who has equipment has either already done something similar or someday will. Part of life's journey! Good luck with the recovery! A photo or two of the process would be great, but it would be understandable if events took priority over snapshots.

I would lay the FEL bucket, flat on the ground and pick up the front tires. I would places rocks, bricks or at least wood boards under the front tires. While the front tires are in the air, I would also crank in the toplink as short as you can get it.

Let the front end down, curl the FEL bucket in to dump all the way.... raise up the mower as high as the 3 point will go (adds weight to the rear tires) {take some photos!!} Then drop the FEL bucket and curl up as you try and push yourself out (WHILE you have the differential lock engage!!) The far-side tire doesn't look like it spun yet... That's my 2 cents...

Be sure to take a bucket of water to wash off with, that looks like it might be a little messy. You might be able to use those plastic cow vet gloves to keep some of the mess off!

Wow! That is stuck, but not as bad as it could be. I think that you are making the right choice to winch it our before you get it stuck worse than it is now. If you try any of the suggestion to use the bucket to try getting it out you are likely to get it stuck worse than it is now. The weight of the mower coupled with it probably becoming an anchor in the mud would make using the bucket to get out a mostly futile effort. Good luck to you. I hope that you get it out okay.

I don’t know, that mess looks soupy. One or two good pushes and it will be slop too. It might come out, or might be worse.

No, already had it up pretty high.....knowing it would just be a 620 lb. anchor if it ever got mired in the mud.

Yeah.....!

I'm sure with enough tire spinning, rocking back and forth, bucket pushing, etc...etc...I could have eventually dug myself out.

BUT why punish your clutch, FEL and lug the engine when you can just winch it out. Call it a day and learn from the mistake/misjudgment.

I disconnected the finish mower, winched it out first. Tractor nearly walked out after that....but since I had the winch right there, I just winched the tractor out as well.

Hooked the mower back up, gave the Old Girl a bath and went to the house.

Yep, I've been driving 4wd vehicles of one type or another since I was 15 yrs old (55 yrs ago). Along the way....I've learned when its best to quit and not make matters worse.

The extraction with a 12,000 lb. winch went easily enough. Just took a little time. Got plenty muddy....but thats what showers are for.

Wife not saying anything further....but you know those 'rolling eye' looks, tell the story. I already told her I'm not perfect. I'll make a mistake every 20 yrs or so.

Yep, I've been driving 4wd vehicles of one type or another since I was 15 yrs old (55 yrs ago). Along the way....I've learned when its best to quit and not make matters worse.

The extraction with a 12,000 lb. winch went easily enough. Just took a little time. Got plenty muddy....but thats what showers are for.

Wife not saying anything further....but you know those 'rolling eye' looks, tell the story. I already told her I'm not perfect. I'll make a mistake every 20 yrs or so.

Most wouldn’t have stopped when you did, myself included. I’d make it a little worse then call it. Lol.
