Got permission fom some old timers to turn over some ground for them this spring. Gonna do about 85 acres, 12 ft at a time. Gonna split time between an ol 4020, and an IH 1066. Can't wait to get started. No cabs, no A/C, no radios. Just me, God, my buddy, our straw hats, bib overalls, some good ole smelling earth, and that mesmerizing diesel hummmmmmmm. Can't wait till that fella with that JD 8430r and 42ft field cultivator stops by and asks me what I'm doing in "his" field. Im gonna say, "I'm a farming, what yous a doin?"

Seriously though, I feel farming has got away from its roots, and this is my attempt to reauthenticate it as I remember it; riding endless summer days with my grandfather. Can't wait.

What no GPS to steer a straight line ;), no smart phone to check the weather every 10 minutes , and no smart phone to take selfies and post on facebook,:p. You must be old enough to be retired and planning on enjoying this. I think on a hot day Daren Todd should have one of his granddaughters meet you at the end of a row with bare feet and a glass of lemonade.

Cool, if I was closer I'd fire up my 51 Ford 8N and come help you!

Rode around on the fender of an old Ford Major and Massey 90 with my Granddad for hours. Miss that guy!

We have a fellow not far from here farming about a 1/4 section with an old Ford Johnson. Cultivated, seeded it with a small drill and baled it into square green feed bales. Moved all those bales by hand on a rack.

This is in an area that has three big framers working 5000 acres + and a Hurrerite colony .

I would like to farm on my 40 acres, but its rented out,and i sometimes get to drive the combine during harvest.
For me to start up a small scale organic farm would be quite an undertaking.

Dave,

Great tune and gorgeous "mechanic" but it looks like the video crew had the make-up shotgun set to "whore."
