Well thank God it wasn't the on-board Beer Tank.

That brought back a memory from '68. Lancaster had what we called "The Loop" (4 one-way streets) where some of us motorheads found a chance for recreation. It consisted of eyeing up a potential rival, some engine revving and maybe a quick tap on the skinny pedal while driving alongside them. If they were interested, we'd pace ourselves to hit the next light red. No burnouts - On the green we'd pull away gradually accelerating until one of us floored it and the race was on.

The races were over when we were in second gear. Amazing that the city put up with this for a few years. Anyway, there was a guy in a Dodge one night that wanted to win as much as I did. We both stayed on it as long as we could (coming up on a red light). Both of us came to a screeching stop at the last minute. I was on the right, and looked over at him while we sat there and saw something dripping out behind his right front tire.

We pulled into a spot to check it out. It was running out of the passenger side rocker. We couldn't figure out what liquid could be coming out at that spot. I put my hand in it and said "That smells like beer". The driver did an "oh crap" or something and opened the trunk. He suddenly remembered that he had glass quart bottles of beer in the trunk.
