Hello, and welcome to OTT. Upon searching you will find scads of previous threads discussing motor oil in Kubotas.
Many of us choose Shell's Rotella T6 in the 5w - 40 formulation. In fact, that might be the most popular option from those not going with Kubota oil and who are looking for the best performance.
There are other good options--and maybe none that are bad if you go with a name brand suitable for diesel engines that meets the current specs.

It would be an excellent idea! Specially in cold weather.

Some like 15-40, personally, the 5w is mo' better when you have to make that engine start in single digits!
As for cons.....really are none - remember, the first digit is the weight of the oil, thus 5 is thinner than 10 or 15......the 40 is what it behaves like ONCE it gets good and hot!
Oil is a pure form gets thinner as it gets warm, typically looses the ability to lubricate as it thins - with a butt load of modifiers, that hot oil NON acts like a 40 weight oil - it actually "thickens" as it reaches the upper limits.
Mechanically, there is zero issues at all. Warranty wise, it is a grey area in my opinion.
A member here said Kubota Corperate has an issue with it being used in hot weather, which is fake news. My dealer on the other hand could care less, but claims people hardly run synthetic, which is also fake news.
I am personally sticking with what is in the manual while my tractor is under warranty. 10w30 is pretty well rounded temp wise, but I am running 15w40.

Only bad thing I'd say is you really don't need a 40w oil but it's not going to hurt anything but your fuel economy. The 5w part is great in my opinion especially during the cold.
