oil seal rear brake l1500

l1500 left rear brake drum filled with oil. Can I replace the seal behind the brake drum with/out draining fluid ? and will the seal come out through the front or does more parts have to be removed .

I have just replaced axle seals on my L1500, you would have to drain at least 2/3 of your oil out to drop the level sufficiently. The seal will come out after removal of the brake backing plate, given the oil capacity is only 20 litres it may be due for an oil replacement anyway. Cheers

I'm looking at having to replace an axle seal in my L1500DT also. Can you share your process, things to look out for, tips, etc.?

Jack up the side u are changing the seal on about 3-4". U will only lose maybe a litre of oil.
