Are these oil pans on Kubota tractors like the kind that automobiles use? Am considering using a magnetic heater that goes on the oil pan on my 1880 when it gets real cold and know I will be plowing the next day. It will be just overnight. Or is this a bad idea? Have used it on an older truck years ago with pretty good success.

It's a worthless endeavor to heat the motor oil.
Get a block heater and heat the whole engine
Besides A lot of Kubota's have aluminum pans and / or no real flat surface.

As 'NIW' suggests above, go with a block heater. They are not difficult to install in most cases and will do a MUCH better job.

Sounds good. Thanks. Will install one after winter. For now will use my mr heater propane heater a couple hours before starting it up. The garge is insulated so won't take long to heat it up.

Ever throw warm molasses on a cold plate? Warmed oil….suddenly splashed-about on cold metal is near worthless and perhaps damaging. (and the condensation created in the sump during the process is definitely bad.)

Warm the entire engine, preferably with plenty of warm air circulating about it sufficiently long…. or the second-best thing….keep the coolant warm…. And Circulated!

A construction style torpedo heater directed at the engine will do wonders in ~15 minutes of run time. If its in a garage it will also heat the cold garage at the same time 🤔
