Hi from France and accepting me on the Forum.
We have just bought ourselves a Kubota B1600DT (an upgrade from our 1949 Massey Harris Pony).

It is going great and I am getting to grips with the operation (of such a modern machine) and also the servicing of the tractor.

One initial problem which I need to sort out is there is oil dripping from the small drain pipe coming down from the oil filter. It only happens when the engine runs and there is no smoke coming from it. The exhaust looks good with no black or white smoke.

It is the D950 motor - any ideas on what I should be looking for. Also if there isa pointer to the WSM for this engine (I have the parts catalog already).

We have put this little tractor to work already so I do not want to damage it if there is an issue. Thanks for you help

That would be your blow-by hose. My BX22 drips a little bit when running from its blow-by. I dont think its anything major to worry about.

Welcome to the forum - glad to have you! Excellent pictures too.

As henry said - that is the "gasses" from the inside of the engine cooling down and dripping from the valve cover. Most older engines will have some blow by - when under a heavy load you will see more "gasses and dripping" - however, unless it is smoky mess - I would not worry about that.

What is you oil level? Changed oil recently?

This may sound counterintuitive - but running it a little harder and not softer will actually be better for the engine. IN other words - do not baby the engine, rev it up a bit and work the engine doing what it is that you are trying to achieve.

Thanks for the replies - I will be doing an oil change on Friday as the oil looks very black and very thin and have no idea when the previous owner changed it.

I will fit a small catch tank under the pipe if this is normal as it is making a bit of a mess in the barn and along the road too.

Just as an aside - the transmission oil, what are the quantities needed as I have seen anything from 17 litre to 28 litres and am not sure if this is a conversion error (from quarts) or real as it sound a lot.

thanks again
Ian

One thing that can happen with these motors is that scum can build up inside the valve cover causing it to siphon oil while it runs.

Pulling the valve cover and cleaning the vent screen can help.

Here is a manual for a D950 along with others of that series.

Perfect, thank you. I will take a look at this. I know this tractor was imported into France in 2018 so it would have been fully serviced at that time, but I doubt anything has been touched since.

Thanks for the manual that helps a lot. Will let you know what happens )

Ho. A mi me paso lo mismo. Fue la bomba de combustible que se rompio la membrana. El gasoil se mezclaba con el aceite y al acelerar lo hechaba por el tubo de los gases.
