Any premium oil designed for diesel engines or a synthetic designed for diesels in my opinion. I believe in changing the oil according to manufacturers recommendations is probably more important than oil brand.

My Kubota Owners Manual states using an engine oil that meets: API Service Classification CD, CE, or CF

For temps above 25 C (77 F): SAE 30W, SAE 10W-30 or 10W - 40

Temps 0 to 25 C (32 F to 77F): SAE 20W, SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40

Temps Below 0C: SAE 10W, SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40.

Those recommendations were written for the oils around when the machine came out. With modern oils you can get away with 15W-40 down to about 20F or a synthetic 5W-40 much colder. I'm not sure what spec they have in the UK (probably the same as on this side of the pond) but the CJ-4 spec is current over here and will work fine using fuel with less than 15ppm sulfur content.

In the UK I use Smith and Allan for oil - delivered at a reasonable price (no connection just a happy customer). I use any super universal tractor oil - e.g. Shell harvella
