Oil after 50hr break in

My 3301 is approaching the 50 hr mark and i was debating using Kubota Oil or switching over to Amsoil. THoughts ? hyd fluid also?Thanks

I switched my L3800 over to Amsoil at the 50 hour break in. Kubota doesn't make their oil, it's rebranded from another company. I run Amsoil in everything I own.

Go for it. I'm sticking with Kubota oil while mine is still under warranty and buy it from the dealer so there's no BS if I ever have a problem. After that period is over I will prob switch too. Don't bother changing the Hydro, just change the filter and replace what was lost during the filter change.

The engine was designed to run the el-cheapo Kubota oil (which is probably Rotella or Delo). Stuff is dirt cheap compared to Amsoil. Over all of the years I've been screwing with engines, I've always found those high dollar lubricants to be wastes of money. They all do the same things. Lubricate, cool, prevent corrosion, and clean.

But all that is an arguement that y'all can hash out amongst yourselves. Not a single one of them has proven (at least not to me) to be worth the extra cost, at least not in my opinion, meaning, I've never heard one person say that their tractor engine lasted 10,000 hours longer than the exact same tractor that was used the exact same way at the exact same time and exact same conditions, then maintained exactly the same; and the reason is because every single one of them-cars, trucks, tractors, mowers, anything that uses engine oil, is used differently. Therefore, I feel that the data has always been biased. $10/quart and 8 quarts you're at $80 for an oil change. Kubota 15w40 is sold at the local dealer for $4.35/quart. At 8 quarts, you're looking at $34.80. Under half the cost. You keep, maintain, and use the tractor for 1000 hours, that's 5 oil changes (every 200 hours) and the cost savings of, what, a little over $225 (otoh). $225 that could be used to pay the tractor off earlier, or fix the hood when a tree decides to run out in front of it, or whatever.

Both are fine - the Amsoil is just finer! I use Rotella T6, simply because I can get my hands on it quickly, and cheaply, cough-cough (wally world). I use Mobile 1 for my gassers for the same reason. I have and will use Amsoil again. I think when you replace oil at certain levels of time or use, they all are fine.....however when you factor in ALL the pieces of the equation, the Amsoils, Rotellas, Mobiles are simply better for that application than standard oils. They all protect longer and more effectively over the time frame for what they are used.

Oil threads can go on for days. But with mine I used the Kubota engine oil and filters at the 50hr and 300hr mark. Again, folks will debate changing the hydro fluid at 50hrs for days too. I went to my dealer at 50hrs to buy the hydro fluid and he informed me that all I needed to do was replace the filter and what oil you lose while changing them, which is what I did. Recently I went ahead and changed my hydro fluid and filters at the 300hr mark, which is 100hrs ahead of when I should have, only did it then because I had the money and time to do it and I had sprung a leak and didn't want to buy the hydro oil twice.. I can tell you this after looking at the hydro fluid that came out it certainly could have waited the additional 100hrs. Not that the eye test should be the determining factor but it didn't look any different than the new fluid I out back in it. So in my opinion I would not change the hydro fluid only the filters but its your tractor and if it makes you feel better replacing it go for it..
