I have a BX23S with a little over 50 hours. Anytime I am on a hill and the machine tilts to the left, the engine makes a metallic tapping sound on the left. My tractor has always made this sound since it was new. Is this normal?

I have a video uploaded to YouTube of the sound but I cannot post it at this time because of forum restrictions (I’m too new here). You can find it if you search YouTube for “Odd Kubota BX23S engine noise when tilted to the left”.

I would bet it is the motor mount, they changed something in the mounts I believe and it will sometimes hit/vibrate against the frame. Im sure someone else will chime in and WELCOME to the Orange

I’m betting skeets has it.
He and I have BX2360’s and mine vibrates tilted right....motor mount.
Seen several mentions of that with BX series, but yours has a metallic sound. I would investigate further, since I think there’s a rubber gasket/bumper or similar to avoid metal-to-metal contact.

I wouldn't trust anything skeets says because he's from southwestern PA: historically untrustworthy people.

Your D902 engine has metal standoffs that impinge the frame under extreme load. I can get the engine to slap the frame when engaging the belly mower at an idle. Placing the chassis on a hill simulates the same condition. My lil' beastie does it to.
