I was going to widen some atv trails today for some fall hayrides, but the tractor was occupied. I didn't want to disturb the farm queen, she definitely earned her keep here.

My parents have 3 barn cats also but they are about as close to house pets are you can get. Oddly enough my Dad parks his RTV in the house garage and they leave the garage door cracked open so the cats can sleep on the seats. For some reason they do like the Kubota seats!

I was never a cat-person until recently. I tolerated them…but had little actual affection for them…until very recently when I was helping a recent-widow at church with some home repairs her recently-deceased husband would have ordinarily taken care of.
As I arrived at her house, I saw a black cat across the street watching me. I called to the cat “Here Kitty-Kitty-Kitty!”

No reaction.

I tried again. “Here Kitty Kitty Kitty!”

Nothing. NADA. Zip.…just sat there giving me a disinterested look.

Then…from two blocks down the neighborhood street… bounding up the center-stripe…came this orange-striped-tabby…at a dead-run. The critter ran up to me an began to wind itself around my ankles purring and looking up at me.
I reached down, and scooped it up…turning it upside-down onto it’s back as I cradled it in the crook of my arm and began to rub it’s belly. The little girl just happily relaxed and purred loud and sweetly.

😻

If I could have justified it…I would have taken her home with me…. but I’d hate for some family or child to miss their sweet little friend.

I may be hooked on cats now.…at least the sweet ones…not like the black one that came with the wife 30+ years ago …that hopped into the warm towels just out of the dryer….and when I stroked him…he sank his teeth into my thumb and scampered-away before I could kill him.

Next school-term…..”Shadow”….moved up to the ranch when the teacher/wife moved in with me. That cat suddenly became a “scaredy-cat” out here in the country. One day he was sneaking thru the grass stalking a buzzard on a dead mouse out in the pasture. When the buzzard realized he had a visitor from behind….he turned…faced the black cat…and merely spread his wings to appear larger.

Shadow blasted off thru the cactus into the brush in Full-high-gear-retreat! We picked prickly-pear thorns out of his face for a week! :ROFLMAO:

Strangely, …Shadow died of old-age several years later. We buried him under a mesquite tree in our side-yard and placed a flat granite marker on his grave…. and the very next evening, while sitting out on the porch swing…we looked over at the grave-site… and THERE, sitting ON the grave-stone…was a BLACK CAT!

We have no idea where this feral black cat came from…and never saw it again. 😯

Awsome story. I was always a cat person. My parents had me on a pile of hay with 15 cats keeping me occupied in the barn while they milked cows when I was younger.

I do enjoy the company of dogs and the last 2 years my wife's haven't left my side either when I was laid up in bed or driving in the truck around the farm or running errands.

I found Cheyenne under a Chevy truck at work.......get the connection? She definitely does things on her terms. She'll love you and cuddle with you when she wants to anyways she's serious and on the prowl. There's always pieces of a bird, gopher or rabbit left on my work bench. Most days shes no where to be found but bang on the catfood can at 7pm and She'll find you.

Chevy I beleive was dumped at my place. Doing my farm rounds he popped out of the falling down pig pen meowing. He was super super friendly and him and my son played together for hours in the shop while I worked on projects.

He loved spending ALL of his time on a beat garden tractor seat. When I was selling the tractor he jumped up on it and looked at the buyer as to say " hey this is mine ".

Unfortunately after I sold that tractor he started roaming around more and used up his 9 lives.

She is very obviously your tractor wiring protection equipment.
Treat her well!
She can save you thousands.
Definitely. I have no problem with her on the equipment for that reason. On other ag type forums guys ask about the best kind of traps, and posions, most common answer is a cat.

Great photos !!!!!
Thanks in high school I took a video editing class where we made psa's for the local news channel. We learned about camera angles, lighting, and color effects to set the mood. I guess it just stuck with me.

Ours just likes ORANGE. Will not get on the John Deere (for whatever reason). Good 'mouser'

Funny part is you don't adopt a cat, they adopt you. Ours likes to lay across my keyboard when I work from home.
