Noob needs leak help!

Hey folks -
First time here and first time owning ANY kind of tractor. Picked up a used Kubota BX2230 and all seems generally good.

First day with it, returned to barn to find a 8" leak stain on rubber mats. A couple days later in new parking, 3-4" similar leak (see photo).

I have no experience with tractors but am quite good at following directions... the leak is in the rear, between the tires and to the right...

Transmission fluid? Place to start? Thank you all for any advice!

Any seals drain plugs or hydraulic fittings in that vicinity.

You have a leak but there's no clear indication from where. Try to pin down the source. It may be a seal on the rear axle. Clean the area around above the leak. You may be able to better pin down the actual source. You are probably correct in your assessment of transmission fluid. The tractor probably holds several gallons - most do. Check the level. Was it over filled?

Clean the area on the tractor and liberally apply talcum powder to the area. Makes it easy to see any leaks.

These are great suggestions -- thank you. Never would have thought of the powder thing. It's been parked outside so the problem stopped temporarily

In the meantime keep an eye on fluid levels - especially hydraulic fluid.

I had a neighbor with a similar complaint. Her tractor is an MX5200. I cleaned the dirty, oily mess and discovered a sight glass. Cleaned it brake cleaner, and put a paper towel there to confirm the leak. Needed a new sight glass. It was leaking around it.

You'll have to get it clean enough to determine where the oil is coming from. Might post some pictures after the clean up to get more ideas/help.
