M9960 wont start. Cranks but throwing an ENG NG code. Fuel pump not coming on. Research indicate an ECU communication issue. Is there a scan tool I can purchase to help other than the kubota diagmaster?

Short answer, no.

You can do some things, and you may have tried already, and look for chewed wires, loose wires, bad grounds etc.

Did you get a specific code on your dash besides Engine NG?

Do you have a shop manual?

Before you .dive into replacing parts, quicker and safer to haul to dealer.

Looked for damaged wires with no luck. No other codes unfortunately. The ECU did "buzz" for just a second once when reconnecting the battery. The only thing that doesn't "seem" to be working is the fuel pump. All the dealers near me are backed up and short handed and will be over a week before I can even expect a mobile tech to come scan. Right now I am just staring with hate at the tractor. Sometimes that works

Update. It is the code Eng NG not the all caps ENG NG code I originally posted. Manual indicates engine comm issue rather than ECU comm. Not sure if that helps me but that is where I am with it.

I've got a LX2610, so I'm probably wrong. HERE is a post that sounds an awful lot like what you're experiencing. Maybe. Just tryin to help.

Not a regen issue but thanks for trying. I have had employees ignore regen and even in level 3 and 4 they would start up. The only thing I have found is fuel pump not coming on but haven't figured out why. Something in the ECU isnt powering up

Do you have a code number displayed? Perhaps in the hour meter
The only thing I see after scrolling through readout is T24280L (I dont think is a code). When the Eng NG is up, no other numbers arr shown

Sounds to me the Engine ecu is not up. So either you have a power issue(fuses/harness break) or the engine ecu is toast. I would check to make sure you have power at the ecu behind the right control panel trim, and under cover on radiator support. Also check all the fuses/relays under the inspection plate under seat. I also would not rule out the safety switches: pto, netural safety switch, seat switch...

Obviously a different machine but similar symptoms and code this past weekened (code 20, ENG NG) that proved to be relays next to the ECU - two in my case by left rear wheel: removed, cleaned and all was good.

Yes but did actually find one taped under a large section of wiring harness. No mention of this fuse anywhere in manuals or anywhere else. The only way you could find it is by begining to remove the complete wiring harness and yes, it was the issue.

I am spit balling but if the engine will turn over I would think the safety circuit is satisfied. That said, I have seen weirder thing happen.
When you say 'fuel pump' do you mean the shut-off solenoid?
