I was changeing the gear oil in the front diff and frnt wheels. After draining both, found the fill plug for the axle/diff but where the fill plug is supposed to be for the frnt hub assy, it is not drilled and no plug is there. I've looked through the manual to be sure what I'm looking for. It is not there. How are you supposed to get the gear oil back into the houseing??? Is there possibly a bolt that holds the tie rod or upper balljoint that is drilled all the way thru the houseing to the oil area???

Yes, page 32, item 10-5. The fill plug that's in the picture is NOT there. There's not even a boss on the houseing that I can drill. See the 2 bolts right above the fill plug that hold the upper ball joint to the outer houseing? wonder if one of them is an open hole to the gear box? I'd have to remove the wheel to take those bolts out.

Newer L series kubota tractors have a common oil reservoir on the front axle. They usually have a vent plug on the top of the final drive which you remove, then fill the center axle until the oil runs from the center housing level plug. Be careful! the oil can be slow migrating through the bearings in the spindle so it can take some time to get it filled properly. Could it be that yours has one of these axles?

Try putting oil in it with the final drive drain plugs out. if oil runs out them just put them in and fill it, check level again in a day or two and be happy!!

I've filled the center diff with the correct amount of gear oil. The hub drain plugs are still out. I'll walk back to the shop and see if any new oil is comeing out the hub drains. Thanks

Workshop manual, front axle assy section, Page s.5-10 , item 9 is a seal that stops gear oil from moveing down to hub assy.
The only way I see right now to get that oil back in there is to turn the tractor upside down!!!!!

Finally found it. I removed the wheel and it was recessed on the outer gear houseing and the wheel wraped around it, hideing it. Once I found it, I could actually see it with the wheel bolted on, but it was tight getting the gear oil in it. Thanks for the responces.
