Hello All;
New member here as I just found this site. Seems like a great resource.
Anyways, new to the subcompact tractor world and had a few questions that the dealer is not too clear on.
I am interested in a new BX1870-1, fel, and belly 54" mower.
Does kubota make a mulch kit for the regular deck (not fine cut deck?)

I noticed some here talking about ordering on net and having delivered from another state? Is that feasable on this size tractor?

Also, what would be a fair price for the above. Basically I like to break things down simply. It seems its a 12k tractor and if I want to finance its 14k. (so the 0%/60 actually costs 2k+/-)

Thanks; and appreciate all comments.

Joe.

Hi Joe -

I have a BX1860 with regular deck, and bought the mulch kit after the first year. IMHO, do not waste your money. I left it on about 3/4 of the mowing season and took it off. It leaks grass in tiny little windrows from both sides and if the grass is heavy or wet at all, you'll be going over it twice.

I went back to the normal operation with the deflector bungee corded up. The only thing that is a pain is where the grass blows. I'd like to put a chute block on it, but haven't gotten around to it.

I bought that same combination 5 years ago for just over 12K, including 5.5% sales tax. If I would do it again...no. Frequent trouble with plugged fuel filters and the crummy three point control.

I purchased a new BX1870 with FEL and 54 inch fine cut mower last year about mid summer. I got the 50" snowblower in January. So far I have not had any problems and everything works great. Was thinking about getting the grass catcher but it's very large and don't have anyplace to store it. Also costs about $2000. I put a mulching kit on the deck and for the most part the clippings disappear. The snowblower did a good job also. I am almost positive there is a mulch kit for the regular deck since it it the most common sold. I had to order the fine cut deck.
