I might buy a used jd sb1164 snowblower because of the price, but I'm not entirely sure it will fit on my L2502?

The CAT 1 is compatible and/ or CAT 2 and so on..... and there are adaptors to make cat 1 fit cat 2 and so on.

even the PTO shafts are compatible ..... until you find the one maker that decided to do something different - very rare.

But that JD model should fit fine - you may need to MAKE sure the PTO shaft will be long enough or SHORT enough to work as it should ......... a worst case scenario, the SHAFT is a bit too LONG and you raise the 3 point up, and BAM - the rear housing breaks , so be careful there. IF you must cut the shaft - look up how to cut BOTH pieces.

YOU PTO power on that machine is at the bottom of the scale for that blower btw....... you may be underpowered a bit!

I’m thinking that Hokie means the telescoping Drive-Shaft might be too long… not the tractors’ PTO shaft.

Welcome to the forum!
Category 1, 2, etc is a standard. Any tractor that is cat 1 rated can use cat 1 implements. There can be some variations, like the PTO shaft length mentioned and the width of the mounting frame. What is standard is the link pin/pivot ball size. Cat 2 implements will use bigger diameter link pins than cat 1, cat 0 uses smaller pins than cat 1, etc.

Today I carefully measured the rear details of 2502 and 3205. It’s a stupid way, but they are indeed almost the same.

Yes, in terms of just passing power output, I can only bet that it won’t be full of snow every time.

Don’t laugh at me, I just found out today that the POT axis can be retracted, haha
