Recenlty purchased a BX23 with FEL, BH and snowthrower. :) Had 107 hours when I got it. I want to do LOF, air filter, fuel filter change on the unit because I didn't get any maintenance records and want to start now with clean everything. The oil filter has a date of October '05 on it and that kinda scares me! Is there a good on-line site to get parts or should I go to NAPA or a parts store and cross reference the filters? Or is the pricing just as good rom the dealer?

Thanx in advance!

Hi,

I've been buying an using used equipment for many years. I bought a 1985 L185 back in 1998 and it's still doing fine.

Doing a complete fluids and filters change is an excelent way to start getting familiar with the new 'toy'. Check the belts and hoses, too. Last month's 1992 MF1010 had the wrong alternator/water pump/fan belt.

I usually start by buying my parts and filters from a local dealer. Then, as I get more familiar with the equipment, I'll get what I can from Auto-Zone, Parts America, Tractor Supply, NAPA, Wal-Mart, etc.

None of the 'national retailers' will have everything you need. So make a solid start and then swing over to cheaper as you can find it.

Good Luck,
Mike

FWIW, I've settled on Napa Gold filters for everything except the hydro filter. I buy that one from the dealer cause I haven't found any non OEM filter that meets the filter spec.
