Greetings,

I took delivery of a BX25D two weeks ago, and love it. With 15 hours I feel very comfortable with tractor and it's controls. Ok, so I broke the very first zerk I greased, but that was easy to fix. Now I am trying to determine why the tractor stalls, or tries to, but only when going up/down steeper inclines in my yard.

For the record, I am using the tractor in low gear and 4 wheel drive with the engine set to just under 3000 rpm.

As an example, when backing up a steep incline the tractor engine will bog down, this is mostly disappears when I depress the gas peddle fully. Logic tells me that I am asking too much of the tractor, as it rarely happens when I give it everything she's got. But then it will do the same when coming down the same slope; in this case I just keep my foot on the forward peddle and that seems to help.

This hasn't stopped me from loving my machine, but I want to ensure I'm not doing anything incorrectly. Thanks ahead for any help.

Does your tractor set out side?
If so moisture has a way of finding it's way in to the first filter from the tank, a PIA to be sure and will cause this type of thing
Where did you get fuel?
If your running off road like I do make sure they sell enough to have fresh fuel in the tanks. If over the road again same thing

Call your dealer ASAP, yep with only 15 hours on it and doing this in LR somethings not right,,,,,

Hmmm just a thought, are you sure you dont have the park brake engaged? And yes it WILL PULL through the brake,,, trust me I know these things,,lol
Where did you pick your toy,,, errrrr I mean tractor up from, up in Butler?

"As an example, when backing up a steep incline the tractor engine will bog down,"

Are you moving in the seat forward when you back up the hill? The seat sensor is finicky when you move around the seat sometimes.

Bogging down and trying to cut off .........similar but different - the seat makes it cut off, lack of fuel will bog and choke it off.

I hope it is the seat switch - or butt placement on the seat, my did the exact same thing when back up and going down a good grade. I had to learn to press my a$$ in the seat!:D:)

Thanks for the replies. I got it near Natrona Heights PA.

I am storing outside, and get fuel nearby; they sell a lot of it, and I don't experience anything on level ground or when carrying a bucket fuel of 2b.

The parking brake is definitely not engaged, though I have mistakenly tried to drive away before releasing it a few times early on.

I bet it is my butt sliding forward; the incline is pretty steep, but short, and yes I slide forward in all the situations where it begins to stall. If it were a power issue, surely I wouldn't experience problems going down a hill.

So, can I disengage this feature? Yes, I understand this would remove a safety feature.

Ok, This Sounds like there is not enough seat pressure on your safety switch which is typical normal for this tractor on steep slopes. I had the same issue well as a sticky fuel solenoid. Here is what I did to fix:

EDIT: This may or may not be your issue, but hope this helps.

The seat can be a problem, but if you are on a steep hill you can also be bogging dwon the engine. And on a hydrostaic tractor you do not have a gas peddle not even a diesel fuel peddle, it is a hydrostatic drive peddle. The more you push down on the peddle the more load you are putting on the engine, but you are not increasing the power by adding more fuel. If the engine starts to bog down you should be letting up on the peddle to reduce the load on the engine. The engine speed is set with the throttle and regulated by the governor.

Following Grouse Feathers thought, are you in High range or Low range?

Maybe it's too steep for high range. That shouldn't account for an issue heading downhill, however.

Is it more common with tank at half or less ? A weak fuel pump or a NG fuel pump might be the case. Disconnect power to the fuel pump and see if it won't run? With a fuel tank full you don't need the fuel pump for that tractor.
