New user with 2023 Kubota M62

Hey y’all, new forum member, my handle is TNred…. we just bought an M62 for our 100ac property, it’s being delivered in the morning and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep a wink tonight!

I’ve been reading a bunch of posts by other M62/M59 owners already, gathering all the info that I can. I really appreciate forums, and those who contribute to them, for how much time and aggravation that they can save. So, a big thanks in advance for all the help I will receive, and a thanks for the knowledge already gleaned. I will endeavor to pay it back, and forward, here on this forum as I gain experience with this machine.

A new M62,...absolutely fantastic.
I have an older relative.....2006 L48 TLB with 260 hours.
The only thing I would like better is a new M62.

Great machine. What are the main tasks you want to use the machine for?

First, I’m going to fix my roads on the property, as well as the regular bush-hogging….then developing a bunch of rental RV sites, reestablishing the old logging roads in the back 70ac of forest, putting in ponds, restoring creek beds (debris clearing), removing invasive species, selective timber harvesting, and then, once I become more adept, I’m interested in picking up some side work w the unit. Mostly greenfield construction and land management. I’ve several undeveloped rural lots, and this is going to supercharge my development of those lots.

I‘d also like to get a big load of natural stone and start building dry stacked walls and terrace the hill sides, like on the Ligurian coast of Italy.

I really was in the L47 camp, and then everyone that I know said get the bigger one if I was interested in a lot of 3pt hitch work, and you’d never say “too much power”….so I went all the way, with the support of the Chair of the Board (wife).

Skip the pneumatic grease gun!
Get the DeWalt or Milwaukee battery powered gun.

Get a Lock-N-Lube grease gun zerk coupler.

Get at least two 5 gal. diesel fuel cans.
Fill them to 4 gallons, or less, for ease of lifting to fill TLB.

Sounds like you’re not very ambitious.

Read and throughtly understand the operators manual. Purchase the correct WSM for your model.
As always do as you feel is best but I'd recommend checking all dealer installed fasteners for proper torque, I mark a horizontal line on all major fasteners with a paint stick so that at a glance I can see if anything is coming loose.

Did you get the 3rd function for the front so that you can get a grapple? Are you getting a thumb for the backhoe? Both add a lot more functionality to the machine and makes doing certain tasks easier.

did read the manual, twice, before purchasing.

thanks on the heads up Re fasteners, most already had blue paint line on them to indicate that the factory tech did. But I’ll double check ‘em

yes, but they are both back ordered. taking delivery without them, they will add them later (I’ll have to bring it in)

With a new tractor, also suggest checking all fluid levels before operating. If 4WD, seems like front axle oil is something often missed in setup. Nothing against the dealer but the setup guys are often the lowest level mechanics in the shop so I wouldn’t 100% blindly trust they did everything.

Also, for stuff needed: a small tool kit for the toolbox. Definitely include the biggest hammer you can fit in the box, decent size adjustable wrench, groove joint pliers, a flat screwdriver big enough to do a bit of prying. If you’re doing 3 point work, add a couple of the spring pins that keep the lift arms on the implement pins. If doing PTO work with a shear pin shaft, include an extra shear pin or two. You can waste a ton of time on a simple issue if you have to trek all the way back to the shop for a little pin and the stuff to replace it.
