HI, Great site. I have searched but found nothing to help so far. I bought a like new 2010 B3300SU, 175hrs. Have had it two weeks and put 20hrs on it bushhogging and moving dirt. Started this morning and was fine, but went to move back and oil light came on. Immediately shut it off and checked oil level. All good, so I checked a few sites and decided to change the filter with a new Kubota filter and oil. Tried once again to start and sounded ok at idle, with light still on. Attempted to throttle up and she was noisy so shut back down quickly. Not sure where to go from here. Assuming its the oil pump, but how difficult is it to change. Appears to be behind the front cover. Do you have to re-time anything after/during the change? Really dont want to go to the dealer and hopeful no internal damage was done.
Any input or thoughts are appreciated!

I'm certainly not a diesel expert, but there are a lot of things that can result in low oil pressure. I suspect the increasing noise will be a clue and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I would not necessarily start replacing parts blindly.

Looks as if the gear case should pull straight off to access the pump. That correct? Also, is there a oil pressure relief valve somewhere? Can't locate one...

What type of oil filter is on it? I think that is where the bypass valve is.

What type of oil is in it?

You may want to put a new oil pressure sending unit on to eliminate any problem with it. Get it from the dealer so you know it is correct.

Probably won’t resolve the problem but will let you know it is the correct part and is new, and still shows low oil pressure light.

Yes, the gear pulls off to access the oil pump, nothing to retime during reassembly.
Your engine oil pressure relief valve is located behind the oil filter. Its retained by the threaded adapter the filter screws onto as I remember.

What kind of noise? Grinding sound? Knocking? Maybe you've spun a rod bearing, explaining the low oil pressure?

Tried to find the wsm with no luck so far. Not listed on this site as I've seen... Anyone have a link to a download?
Your local dealer or any of the online dealers offer a workshop manual for purchase. I've found the manuals valuable if doing your own repairs.

Thanks all! It had a Kubota filter on it and that's what I put back on it new. The noise just was a slight rattle, no grinding yet. Did pull the filter back off after running and no oil in filter which tells me it should either be the oil pump or the pickup in the sump... Sound about right? Really debating whether to take to shop or fix myself. Any idea on what the pump replacement might costs including labor? I think I could do that as I work on a lot of older hotrods, just never diesel. The sump on the other hand looks like you have to either pull the motor up or pull part of the frame apart to drop the pan. May be a bigger job than my tools allow... Again, any thoughts or input are appreciated.

Perhaps you can drain the oil and then use a borescope to verify pickup position.

You can order the Work Shop Manual from Messick's: Part No. 9Y121-04280 $82.16 It'll take a couple of weeks since it's not stock. Best $ I've spent on my Kubota!

BTW have you tried a temp gauge to see just how much pressure you have?

Thanks! Zero pressure or flow. Pulled the oil filter back off and no oil in it whatsoever after running for 2 seconds and cranking a little..
BTW, how can I crank to prime the oil without starting. No kill switch on this thing that I know of

Is it possible that within 196hrs that the splines wore off the oil pump? Like to know why if so
I would say the pickup probably fell of or cracked and broke. much more likely situation than oil pump failing or drive shaft breaking. either way I would pull the motor and tear it down, would defiantly crack a main and rod bearing just to check for excessive wear.

JB, I will be in your neighborhood tomorrow afternoon if you would like a hand, we could split the tractor and have a diagnosis in a few hours easy, Have Crane and any tools we could need on my truck.

If the shutoff solenoid pulls in when you turn the key on, pull the wire(s) off and it won't start. But I wouldn't turn it over any more - there should be at least a show of oil by now.
You can get an endoscope/borescope from Amazon or eBay that uses your smart phone as a monitor and recorder for less than $30. I've seen guys rave over them.
But it sounds like you've got an offer you can't refuse. I hope he's got the right state!
