New tractor grease

So I just got my new Kubota L2501. It is my first tractor. Noticed you need a moly-lithium grease for every 10 hours. Will Red N Tacky do the trick or is this some special grease for the wear and tare of a tractor.

I think red and tacky is the best. The down side is you pressure wash the tractor and is get stuck to everything.

I went back to moly and grease often.

The moly grease is better for surfaces that rub - like your loader or pivot areas. The red tacky grease is preferred for packing roller bearings and such because the moly is so slick the bearings don't operate properly.

REad the label….. if it has Moly in it… itl’ll say so. (Hint: Red and Tacky is good general purpose grease…but does not have Moly.)

I have watched a ton of videos and a bunch from Messicks. Didn’t see the one on grease. Will check that out. Looks like the Moly grease from what y’all are saying is the way to go. Will pick that up. These things are way to expensive to not take proper care of them. Waited too long to get it!

On mine, I use moly on the loader pins and red stuff on everything else as well as my lawn mower. Get two guns and never have to swap tubes around.

They way I understand it, moly is good for high load, but not spinning. Red is good for things that spin.

3% moly is fine for rolling element bearings. 5% moly and up...N.G. for rolling element bearings....source-many internet sites.

YES, it does. EVERYTHING within 20 feet of the tractor will get that stuff on it. I've learned to just take the FEL off the tractor for cleaning/washing. Then I can blow it down with the pressure washer (avoid the decals on the boom, btw) and then use a rag to clean the splatters off the boom/bucket without getting it all over the tractor. Took forever to clean that mess up last time I washed the tractor with the loader on. Not that the splatter is any better with other grease, but it seems like the Red 'N Tacky still sticks to stuff even though it's wet. Good grease, though. Does the job for me.

I use Lucas X-tra HD grease for everything - bearings, pivot pins, etc.. It's been working perfectly for 4 1/2 years, lasts and stays put. One size fits all for this guy. Is a little more expensive but I invested in a 10-pack of tubes online and came in cheaper that way.

I also use the Lucas X-tra HD. It is water resistant and that's important to me because I have been digging in wet locations and because my tractor stays outside in the weather.

Another key consideration is that by greasing every 10 hours grit and dirt are pushed out of the contacting surfaces. May be more important than the brand of grease.
