Since starting my own business last year one of the tools I lost when leaving the dealership was a wire rope spooling machine, after much deliberation I designed a frame and drive system tailored to the capacity of my little L2501. Using the backhoe hyd loop and a simple log splitter valve I built a effective tool to do a extremely labor intensive job of pulling rope off a crane hoist under tension and installing new rope under tension.

today was the first real test of my little creation on a Liebherr LTM1100-4.2, found out very quickly that the L2501 will lift 1100lbs plus or minus on the loader... it wasn’t happy about it but it picked the new spool out the back of my customers service truck and flipped it upright, also that same 1100 lbs is about max for the 3 point when 40” from the ends of the lift arms.

Other than that machine performed flawlessly and is gonna make me some serious money with approx $400-$500 invested.

Luckily the industry I’m in is very small and mostly immune to economic impacts, no matter how much the world is burning people still need to pick crap up and put it back down!!!

Nice fabrication. When I read the first sentence i thought you were using government terms to describe a winch like on a 4 wheeler. "... was a wire rope spooling machine..."
