New to tractors but have a tractor in mind

I'd say hold out for a cab model, if you'll have lots of snow. You can buy a much bigger open station tractor for the extra 8 to 10 grand a cab costs on say, an LX, but your super cold, super hot, bug filled skys and dust and pollen days will be heavenly bliss with a cab.
If money is the issue, and it usually is, try this: Don't buy your tractor yet. Go buy your topless UTV, SXS, or ATV and put a snow plow on it for less than a grand. See how that works for you during your first winter. (It will work faster in low snow than a tractor with a blade, anyway).
If you like it, buy an open station tractor and save big money.
If you nearly freeze to death, buy a cab tractor.

Yup Eugene is the MAN. I saw him today. He stopped by my house and dropped off a part on the way home. I’ve known him for years. Really good guy to deal with and will treat you rightMuch appreciated. I'm looking forward to a slower pace vs D.C. Did you go through Eugene in sales? He was very helpful when I called today & I'll definitely be headed to Hoober next week after I close. My new job has me stationed in Fredericksburg, so I'll swing by Dickinsons tomorrow to check out the L2502. I plan to finance as well. If it snowsbefore I get a tractor I may have to phone a friend...lol

That's my LX2610 cab model. Last Chrismas day. My driveway. Minus 15 degrees F. I was drinking hot cocoa and an occasional hot-toddy,
Wearing a t shirt. I'd get out every hpur or so to have a smoke and feel the outdoor temp.

Yep. I couldn't afford a snow blower AND a cab. A snow blower is in the works for next year.
Tractor and bucket is half my driveways width.
I made 2 passes. Took 2 days, about 20 hours, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. My driveway is just over 1/2 mile.
Oh yeah, I do have a snow blower.
Not enuf.

I have a similar Arens blower-very handy to get to the tractor!
1200 ft drive here.
Ran a plow truck for 18 years,calling the loader guy as needed.
Actually,he always showed up when needed-just seemed to know!
17 years later with a blower,no more truck-gave it to BIL for free.
Only 20% of the fuel and no plow truck to deal with.
And still have a valuable asset!

That B2650 will do what you said you need. The GWT guy seems like a straight shooter. Call him up and let him know you need an FEL. See what can be worked out. I do agree with not getting a tractor without an FEL. Have one for the B2601 and have to use it yet, since the L3830 does all the FEL work around here. But, if I need it, I’ll have it.

Lol. Well it was for my buddy. We’re each others’ “I know a guy”, so we do all sorts of stuff. It’s his lathe, but I suppose at some point he’ll probably be tuning something for me. He does lots of automotive stuff, plus he’s a millwright in a lumber mill, so he’s got lots of know how.

But if you really wanna stay warm, get some Striker Ice "Hardwater" bibs and jacket.
My wife and I, ice fished a tournament in 40 mph wind with a wind chill of -40.
No shanties allowed. My wife was mad cause as soon as she opened her beer, it just turned to slush and started coming out of the can like a volcanoe.....
We had to keep her beer in the cooler to keep it from freezing....hahahha

Ya, WAY back when I was farming, my favorite haybine-pulling tractor was an Oliver 1850T. It was borrowed from a neighbor who was a local drag racer and a stock car driver. So, much fun to toot, but you had to watch the exhaust temp ("keep it below 900"). Great tractor in a situation where you needed excess torque on tap...
We typically raked hay with an old Farmall M. I have done 1000s of acres of cultivating from the seat of an offset Super C. I'm still cross-eyed from that. We pulled loaded silage boxes up to the silo with IH 560Ds. Helluva tractor...Ran the silo blower with an IH806D. Another helluva tractor...that benefits today from a Cummins 6BT transplant...if you can keep the TA in them...
I forked manure out of the steer shed with an IH 460 gas. What a hog that tractor was. This was before skid-loaders. I plowed with it a few times, pulling a 16-3, and it would get so hot that there would be a geiser of fuel spurting 4 inches up out of the fuel cap vent!

I haven't understood a pick up line since a trip to Vegas a couple decades ago. (And she was serious and offered Everything)
I'd never took her up on because I was low on chips.
You'd have to be tempted to take her up just to find out what "everything" means.

When I could afford a tractor I bought one with a cab. I did not want to be cold and wet snow blowing any more .
The B2650 is a great tractor. It will only pick up around 1000 pounds give or take.
For about 90% of what I do this tractor is plenty big. Some projects take longer because of the size of the tractor.
I will guarantee my wife and daughter would not do the driveway with out a cab.
We live in the woods and when I go in the woods I have to be extra careful of the cab. Just make your roads in the woods wide enough.
