If you're talking at the main axle, you'll need some good blocking and some heavy enough equipment to move the tires and axle housing. A spare set of hands (or two) really helps with stuff like that as well.

It's doable with the right equipment. If you don't have that, it's generally better to let a tractor mechanic do that kind of work.

it depends on exactly which seam it's leaking from.

If it's out where the axle & wheel flange stick out of the housing the 4-bolt cap can crack and drip. Support the axle on a jack or stand and take off the wheel - unbolt the cap and the axle slides out.

If it's at one of the multi-bolt housings it's similar but more doing. Best to clean the area up and pinpoint the leak first before diving deep.

The attachment is for the L3 axle (L3350, L3750 L4350 & others)

:confused: I take it you've never replaced that seal?:confused:
It's not an easy repair to replace that seal, you have to pull the entire axle housing off in order to remove the axle, there is a big old nut and a retainer that keep the axle from just sliding out. ;)

:eek:right you are - no, my L3's have never needed that seal. The snap rings trap the axle. I was remembering a smaller rig that had a cracked cap. My standing offer is for prompt cheerful refund if info I give turns out to be bogus ;)
