Hello, all. I'm a new member to this forum, I stumbled across it when looking for information on a starting solenoid, and spent the last hour reading posts. I don't know if this is the proper category for 'new member' posts, but this is probably where I will spend most of my time.

I live on approximately 10 fairly wooded acres in South Central Texas. I have a 10 year old L2600DT with about 1500 hours, a TAS ml180 loader, a box blade, tiller, an auger and a brush hog. This is my first tractor, although I have spent some time on a few rented Bobcats. I use my tractor a lot, considering it is just for personal homeowner use. I mow parks in our homeowner's association as a member of our fire department, completely fenced two of our ten acres with chain link fence, and spend time clearing the rest when I can. I can tell you I dearly love my tractor, the only regret is that I got a 'package deal' that included the TAS loader and in hindsight I would have insisted on a Kubota loader, for a number of reasons. In spite of this, I think I have an excellent dealer, actually 2 within the vicinity. My tractor has only been to the dealer one time with mechanical problems, and that was when I put some crappy gas in by mistake (smelled almost like diesel fuel) and I couldn't figure out why it was running really badly. I love my tractor so much that about 5 years ago I bought a G2160 lawn tractor as well for finish mowing.

I am not an operating expert, but I have learned a lot over the past 10 years, and in reading through some of the posts in this particular category, I wish I had joined some time ago so I could add some comments. In particular, using the bucket as a bulldozer, what you can do with a box blade, and perhaps one of the most entertaining, the tractor jumping into neutral a number of times and finally rolling over and totaling itself. And by the way, I don't have wings on my tractor, I have a number of motorcycles, including two Honda Goldwings, thus 'Wingerbill.

I'm looking forward to participating in this forum.

Welcome to the forum!! I'm looking forward to hearing your input.
I've never actually totaled a tractor. Back when I was about 15 I was mowing an orchard. My foot slipped on the clutch, the tractor headed through the nearest apple tree, the branches knocked me off the tractor - onto the rotary cutter, and the tractor smashed into the tree trunk. This was back when apple trees were big things, not the overgrown bushes they call trees today. So I got to learn about body work...
Glad to have you!

Welcome,

These gurus here can answer damn near any problem you can imagine!
I learn something every time I read the current posts.

The last one that dropped my jaw was losing front end 4 WD ....the tire was spinning around the rim! Now that IS NOT the first thing that I would have thought of !!

Have fun - and POST some pictures!!!!:D

Wingerbill, welcome to OTT.

As said above, there is a wealth of knowledge and experience that the folks on this forum are willing to share. I have learned a lot over the past year just reading through all of the threads. We look forward to your contributions and observations too.

Oh, I almost forgot to warn you to watch out for skeets, he sleeps with his Harley.

Enjoy!

Just FYI, the entertaining "jump into neutral and total the tractor" was in reference to one of the posts I found on here, not something I've done. Fortunately my biggest screw up so far has been dumping in the gasoline, and I probably wouldn't have admitted that to anyone if I hadn't taken it to my dealer to find out why it was running so crappy.

And yeah, for skeets - that would be a HONDA Goldwing, although I have two close friends that we tour with, both with Harleys. They just recently upgraded to 2014 trikes. Here in South Central Texas, this is pretty much Harley country, as well as John Deere country, so I guess I am the odd one out on both accounts. But, as my sig line on another board says, "I never met a motorcycle that I didn't like." My wife won't let me sleep with one, however, although many, many years ago my Triumph used to live in the living room of my apartment.

I do fly, but it is R/C airplanes. As soon as I have some time, I will complete my profile, add an avatar (if I can find one that doesn't include a Goldwing) and start throwing my two cents worth around.
