Looks like a fun little project to me.....
These little tractors are actually very simple, and easy to work on, parts arent too hard to find, and they seem to run forEVER if you treat them right.

Keep us posted on your progress. (with pics)

Well, it doesn't look too bad. The steering box is kind of a PITA, but like WinnieCouple said these tractors are fairly simple to work on.

... sounds like you need to "bleed the injectors" (search how exactly on here), work the air out of the system.
when it starts pushing fuel and not air, screw the bleeder screw back in ( it should only be out a half turn or so)
take your time... let your battery recover (if your on a charger or not), dont burn out the starter, take your time.
Give her 30-50 seconds on the glow (*depending on the weather temp).
Set the hand throttle towards the rear a couple inches.... and she'll come to life.
It just might take a few tries... she may smoke a bit first.
Let us know how she's doing.

how do you tell if its just the indicator or the glow plugs too should it have voltage at the glow plug?
.... or it could be the switch.... if your using a meter, check EVERYTHING in the system.
I know my glow plugs are working, simply because "it starts".
I have not checked the indicator, I just turn it to the glow position for x# seconds (again, depending on local temp) or if its been running, just straight to start and she fires right up.

are you getting ANY smoke?
is it "attempting" to start and not run?
did you bleed the injectors?

it "may" have an electrical problem... you should be able to see voltage at the glow plugs with a meter, mine have exposed wires in series, so testing should be easy.
again, the switch may be fine "on the START circuit" allowing it to turn over, and at the same time, have "gunk" or a loose connection, or fuse, from completing the GLOW cicuit.

... then again... mine (glow indicator) "may" be working just fine, and using it in the bright sunlight, i've never "seen" the glow indicator... i've "looked" but if it WAS lit up, it was very weak.

trial and error.... narrow one thing down, check it, move to the next...
it could be ANYTHING... or it could be nothing at all, just take your time with it, dont get frustrated, and let us know what it IS doing.
Your decompression valve may be opened and keeping it from starting...

either way, your getting to know it.... seeing what makes it "tic".
good luck, we're here for ya.

Check your wiring under the dash. This is what I found on mine this spring:
Today found out why my glow plug indicator hasn't worked since I got this tractor.

My L175 has always been kind of slow to start and the Glow plug indicator never has lit up. This spring it has been worse than usual, the glow plugs totally quit working.

Today I had some free time and decent weather, so I started looking for the problem. I first checked continuity between the glow plugs and ground -- good. Then I checked to see if they were getting voltage -- no. I started following the wire back to the dash, suspecting the switch.

After taking the four screws out that secure the dash, I found the wire from the indicator to the glow plugs was broken, and both wires were on one terminal of the indicator. Checking the indicator with an ohm meter found it to be open. The 12 ga wire had only had about three strands that weren't seriously weathered. That explained why the glow plugs used to take forever to heat up.

One butt splice crimped onto the wire allowed voltage to the glow plugs. about eight seconds with the switch at the glow position and the tractor started, better than it ever had when cold. If the butt splice comes loose, I will solder and tape the splice.

I put everything back together, it works now. I will get an indicator when funds aren't quite so tight.

Some fixes are simple, some cost lots of money.

I still haven't replaced the indicator and the tractor still starts fine, as long as the battery is up.
