It will mostly likely NOT fall out.
Read this:
The key came out!! I sprayed some cleaner in there and then used a small pick. It only took a few seconds. MUCH easier than i thought it would be---and cheaper, too!

I finally looked at the hour meter....2691.7 hours Is that a lot, or a little for a machine of this vintage?

I was considering a repaint to go along with all the mechanical refreshing, but with a little elbow grease, the original paint looks pretty good. There is something about the patina of original old paint.

OK, on to other threads!

Wow, that fender looks great!

Mine is a 1979 sold in 1980, and has 1453hrs, which I have always considered kind low for it's age.
So yours doesn't sound excessive.

I have a couple keys for mine, but one day the wife took the truck with my keys in it, so I went through my old key stash and found a trunk key from a '64 Impala that works like it was made for it.
(the bolt & standoffs are just for a little leverage when doing those long glows)
