New to Kubota. Hydro leak

Hello,

I am new here and purchased my first Kubota (B1700HSD) this month. Shortly after the purchase I discovered hydro a leak under the tractor. I have attached a photo of the leak. It appears to be coming from the transmission output shaft. Could someone please identify this part number and if it can be installed externally or is a tear down required to replace the seal?

To start with, that is the Clutch Gear Box, not the transmission. The propeller shaft in the picture takes power from the clutch gearbox to the transmission input shaft. Clean the area, and make sure that the oil is not leaking from higher up than the output shaft seal.
Seal # 66363-39560

If it is the seal, some units you can move the propeller shaft coupler rearward enough to replace the seal. Most units have to be separated a couple of inches to get a new seal between the coupler and output shaft. Removing and reinstalling a seal into the housing is very simple and easy.

When changing your hydraulic fluid, make sure and drain this gearbox also. The drain plug is right under the propeller shaft. It fills from the same hole as the transaxle does.

I took your suggestion and double checked. It is indeed coming from the shaft seal. If I’m understanding you correctly you’re saying on some tractors you can take the roll pin out of the shaft coupler and there enough play to get the shaft off of the splined nun coming out of the clutch and on some tractors you can’t get enough movement and have to split it so the splined nub draws back into the clutch case enough to get the shaft of?

The hub slides rearward on the propeller shaft with the roll pin removed. The output shaft from the clutch housing does not move. You need a gap at least wide enough to slip a seal between the hub and output shaft.

Makes sense. I’ll give it a go when the seal arrives. Thank you
