Hi-

I took delivery of a new (to me) 2012 Kubota BX1860 with a 203 loader on Friday. I’m new to Kubota and diesel tractors in general. After lots of YouTube and online forum reading, I spent today changing fluids and filters (oil, fuel, transmission, and coolant). So far, so good in that regard. Now on to the loader...

I have never had a loader nor do I have much experience with hydraulics. I’ve noticed that I can’t get the front tires off the ground unless I go all the way to the right on the joystick; I think this is called power dump(?). The front end/tires seem to go right up when I do this and they stay there. Is this normal or do I possibly have an issue with the hydraulic pressure? By this I mean, should the front end go up by some other means with the loader...like just going over to the right on the joystick without going past the detent?

Thanks for any help here - I’m a little concerned I may have a issue.

Welcome to the OTT forum.

Congrats on the new to you Kubota.

On my L3200, I push the joystick UP to make the FEL lower down. I can raise the front wheels that way. Yes if you push the joystick to the right to move the bucket down while or after pushing the joystick up, it will do it also.

Thanks for the welcome!

When I push my joystick up to lower the arms, I don***8217;t think the front end goes up all that much, maybe a little. Definitely not like when I move it all the way to the right, which really raises it up. Not sure if I need to be concerned about this.

When you raise the joystick and the bucket goes down as far as it will go it may be at its physical limit, not just limited by hydraulic pressure. Try raising the loader then rolling the bucked down like you're dumping it. That will extend the loader a bit further downward. Now lower the loader. If you can raise the front of the tractor off the ground to your liking you've solved your mystery.

Thanks for the replies!

Once it stops raining, I***8217;ll try rolling the bucket out first, then lowering the arms.

Thanks again!

Following up on my own post here...

Turns out things work much better if the brakes are not engaged. Once I stopped depressing the brake pedal, the front end went right up.
