Hi all I am new here and this is my first post. I doubt very much it will be my last as I am committed to buying a Kubota.
I have read what I could here and would like opinions on these tractors.

I have 20 acres and about 1/2 is woods. I want to cut and haul fire wood, plow my field, dig ditches, bush hog alders and generally just terra-form my place. Most of all I want a big Tonka Toy to play with. "Sorry honey I can't watch Downton Abbey with you I have a ditch to dig" LOL. I have always wanted a tractor and now I can finally afford it.

Are these tractors good for my purposes?
Is the price reasonable?

If so which would you choose?

Out of the 3 I think I would pick the B7800, low hours for the year, all the goodies (make sure it comes with the three point arms) If not you'll need to get those.

If you can afford it look at steeping up to a larger 35+ HP L series, they have a lot more bottom weight and are better for logging work.

Thanks, I appreciate your advice.
Why would you choose that tractor vs the others?

B7800 is a great tractor, You should go with the larger HP considering you are going with a back hoe.. One of the worse things when buying is to go under powered. If you decide on the b7800 take a look at my post for a few inexpensive improvements http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12867
Also add weight to the tires and make sure the fluids and filters have been changed, try to get the dealer to do this for you.. Also read any safety info you can find..
Good luck..

Welcome to the forum!
Since you are new to tractors, take someone who knows them when you go looking. There is a ton to learn, and throwing in a backhoe and loader- which may have had heavy usage- means that there is more to pay attention to. Two or three heads are better than one.

Thanks hodge. I will try to find someone who knows something about tractors but I know no one who does. My old timer neighbour does and he has a couple of antiques he keeps going with car parts and bailing wire and his welder (it is amazing what he can do with nothing but odds and ends) but he doesn't think I need a tractor that is any newer than a Pinto or Vega. :) He is a good guy and a genius but still has the first nickel he ever earned.

I am also looking at new.

If I was making the purchase hands down I'd go with the B21. It's built a little bit tougher and sturdier as its more for the construction end of dirt working. Plus the 4 post ROPS with a canopy will provide some shade in the summer months. The backhoe on that is mounted on a subframe and can be droped off the back with NO tools and stick the 3pt arms on in minutes.

I picked the B7800 because of HP, hours, it's 4 cylinder engine is a little smoother running and better balanced power, and the versatility of a B.
The B21 is a good model but way too little HP to be formidable.
The L2800 is also a good model and would be my second choice, first choice if the price came down.

If your looking at new be warned that the newer models have emissions equipment and standards that the older models don't have.

Not to mention higher priced. If you do look at new, see if your dealership has any new, previous year models. Before the newest emissions restrictions. I know my local dealership has some on the lot.

Well I pulled the trigger but on none of the three options I was looking at. lol

I went with the L3800 HST with FEL and Backhoe. So it looks like I won't be getting a new truck but I am good with that and I love my 07 F150 anyway.

I will have fun. I am really excited. It has been a few decades since I felt so excited about a new toy.
My old timer neighbour came over and we planned all of the jobs that we really need done but didn't know about them until now. lol

Yeah I knew what you meant the first time. I just pretended not to. lol

I have had a long string of F150's. I moved to a Ram in 07or so anmd wrote it off in a winter crash. I figured it was a message that I should just go back to Fords.
