It baffles me just why anyone would put a loader on an 80 year old tractor (without power steering).
My 8N is now 72 years old, and I would never consider a loader.......unless I was 50 years younger, and had just completed a Charles Atlas course.
Well I have sold literally hundreds of mounting brackets to people putting them on 9N/2N/8Ns. Typically the old jungle gym pipe loaders that in addition to Popeye forearms require gymnast skills to get into the operator's seat.

The next thing they ask about is PS kits. ..

It's all about the counterweight. Yes, a bucket load of stone really makes the steering heavy otherwise, But equally balanced, the steering is unaffected.

Have you ever operated an 8N with an old Dearborn or Wagner loader on it? I think you will find its about a lot more than 3pt counterweight.

I had a 9N with a loader. With suitable counterweight, steering was not an issue.

Braking, on the other hand...

I attribute my upper body strength to a youth spent on our MF-50. And it didn't even have a loader. But it did have brakes, which was a vast improvement over the old AC, and independent PTO.

There was a large farm near us with several M Farmalls without power steering and a round and half play. Just shy of 3 tons they took the starch out of the toughest drivers. 40 cents per hour for N drivers , 50 cents for M drivers and as bad as people needed the 10 cents some chose to drive Ns or work with women and kids hoeing.
