New Subsoiler

I just finished building this last week. I paid $2 for the shank. (Bought it from a scrap iron hauler.) The rest came out of my scrap pile. I think it will be about all that my L3901 wants, but I don't have to let it down all the way. Was too wet for a good test, but I think it will do fine. I've been wanting one for a while, just couldn't justify the cost of a new one and good heavy used ones are hard to find.

Looks good. I don’t know why it won’t work just fine. I have a middle buster and have been wanting to convert it to a subsoiler but haven’t got around to it yet. Maybe when the weather warms a little more.

That looks like a fine job, I purchased one from TSC last year and used it behind my L3200 and L3901 to break up ground and clear roots in woodland areas that I cleared. Mine has a little more paint on it but yours looks like it will work just as well.

That shank came off of a bulldozer. It is 3 feet long. It will go nearly 24 inches deep. It will get a good coat of paint soon.

When I first looked at it it appeared to be set up to limit it's depth. Then I though it might be from a D6 or larger. I would not paint it until you test it out. Better yet, clean it with a wire brush on an angle grinder and get all the rust and crud off of it. It will pull much easier that way. That would clean up real nice if you had an old RR bed you could drag it through! Did you put a bolt in it somewhere so it can shear if you hit something big and heavy?

No shear bolt, just bigger and heavier than what my 3901 can break. No rocks in my part of Louisiana. No roots or stumps in my fields.
