Hi folks.

I am new here and learning. I own a B7800 that I have had since 2003, great machine used for mowing and roto tiller. Now has 350 hrs on it.

Just purchased 200 acres and the B7800 just did not cut it. Purchased new L4740 and am learning all about it.

I am amazed at what the B7800 will do. 6' disc harrow, the three furrow plough would not work due to the fact that the rear wheels would not go wide. Used the 3 furrow plough on a 8N and it worked fine. Connected it today to the L4740 and it is dream to operate. I am learning about all the fancy stuff on the L4740, cruise control, H-DS, no bog down etc.

I do not have the owners manual on the L4740 so am having to figure it out.

BTW the dirt is a light loam, (Norfolk Loam) so not hard on the tractor.

I am contemplating purchasing a 14' spring tine harrow, any thoughts.

Welcome to the forum, the L40 Series is a really nice tractor.

Sorry, I can't help you on the spring tooth harrow as our soil is a mix of clay and heavy ground and they just bounce off, we use the heavier duty harrow behind a disk or incorporated into a field cultivator.

First welcome to O.T.T I have a L3830 and farm in Ca and I have a 10' spring tooth harrow and my tractor pulls it fine and we farm heavy adobe soil. I have found that my L3830 will pull anything that our D2 cat will pull in our soil conditions. Good luck Dan
