New Member Introduction

I would like to take time to introduce myself. I've been lurking for the past week or so, as I have decided to purchase my first and brand new Kubota. Let me start out by saying, and my wife would agree that it is all her fault. A few weeks ago she mentioned that it would be nice if I could move snow without getting cold. I live in northern Minnesota, and at times I have had to move snow in below zero temps. I normally use a walk behind blower, and a plow on my Polaris atv. So I took her up on the offer. After several days of looking online as well as going to the two nearest dealers in the area, both several hours drive to either, I have a new B2650HSDC that hopefully will be delivered by the end of the month. I also will have the BH77 on the back end of it as well.

I originally was going to go whole hog and get a front snow blower as well as a front grapple and box blade. However, after finding out that I couldn't get approved for that much financing, I decided I would settle for the front snow blower and the FEL. That decision lasted through this past weekend. The more I thought about it, I realized I could move snow with the FEL, but couldn't dig a hole with a snow blower. So I called the dealer and told him to put the backhoe on and keep the snowblower for now.

I have been reading everything I can on this forum, and I want to say I am impressed with all of the help the members give to questions that are asked. Being new to tractors, I won't be able to contribute to helping others, but will have plenty of questions. I hope to not ask to many newbie questions, but will if need be. I have already found so many answers to potential questions I might have had. The other thing I noticed about this forum, is that it seems to be a very friendly atmosphere here. Which I can appreciate. I belong to The Forestry Forum as well, and they too are a great bunch of people willing to help.

Anyway, as my wife says, I talk to much. So for now, I will say thanks for having me, and hope to getting to know you all better.

Congrats on the new tractor. You will soon find that there are a lot more you can get done with this tractor and your wife will be pushing you to use it.

Of course we will be looking for pictures, or it didn't happened.

Also welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new here as well. Nice choice on the tractor, it's the same one I own. Feel free to ask any questions you have. Someone here will know the answer! You'll love your tractor when it shows up. Do you have a gravel drive that you're plowing?

glad to have you !!!

You seem to have the pushing of snow handled ....despite being cold doing it with equipment you have currently.

The FEL is something you will use ALL year round, and truly it is a must to have - if nothing else a huge back saver.

Many say "rent" a backhoe.....I do see it that way - but my needs are different than most, I have only used my backhoe about 10% of the hours on the tractor, but it is so damn nice to have it when I need it ....and the need pops up and weird times too!

As for the rest - you can ALWAYS go back and get the snowblower....that is the easiest of all the pieces to get and hook up.

The good news is this - the thoughts you THINK you are going to do with the new machine will go up 10 fold ............once you get the machine and start doing work.

There are things I do that I never thought of before when using mine FEL/BH combo.

Great idea by blaming your wife. Hopefully, you got the HST model (not sure if its an option on yours, might be standard) so your wife can operate it. Hard for her to argue after ten minutes in the seat. My wife actually got good at hauling and dumping floor tile into a dumpster and slinging boulders around the backyard. After working the tractor one day, I had to pinch myself when I heard the words, "Whatever stuff you need to keep our tractor running it's best, make sure you have some on hand."

Seriously, you are gonna wake up a few weeks after you get your tractor and wonder how you ever got along without it. My kid will inherit mine. I just spread 42 more tons of gravel on my driveway and the tractor made that fairly easy, followed up by grooming with a sled pulled by my Ranger 900. I just turned 63. These tools have paid for themselves and in a short time, so will your new tractor.

Hope it will fit in your garage for cold morning starts.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I'm an instant gratification type of guy, so the waiting time is just about unbearable. As far as snow removal, what I currently use does get the job done. But being 63, getting into a warm cab has to be better. As a matter of fact even as I sit here replying it is snowing out, and latter this morning I have to go move 7-8 inches. AND I already removed he plow from the atv at least it's 28 out.

I do have a gravel drive, and my thinking is to make a couple of skids on the side of the bucket, like on the sides of my snow blower. Then float the bucket to keep from picking up gravel as I push the snow. Good or bad idea?

Can someone point me in the direction of posting pictures? is there a tutorial
Do I upload them to this site, or do I need to host them somewhere? The other forum i belong to has to have them uploaded to their site as he doesn't want any posts to loose pictures from a hosting site that disappears in the future.

Congrats on your new purchase. I'm confident that you'll enjoy it.

Regarding your plowing situation. Consider getting yourself a rear blade. They are reasonably priced and can be used for other tasks (grading) in addition to snow removal. You can plow snow using the back side of the rear blade so you don't disturb too much stone on your driveway.

Dirtydeed, thanks for the link, that's not what I had in mind, it's way better!! I learned to weld when I was 11, so making a set in my shop is no problem. I already took a screen shot to make a set when I have time.

Ray, the new toy will be all mine! My wife won't even drive the atv. She pretty much thinks i will be sleeping in it when I get it, and that probably isn't to far from the truth.

I've always wondered why anyone would choose to live "up Nawth" with all that snow every year. I would absolutely dread/hate the idea that each and every year I'd be facing an inevitable pile of snow and cold simply to live each day.

But it has finally dawned on me WHY!

FANTASTIC REASON for the average non-large-land-owner to NEED/OWN A TRACTOR! WOW!
