Good Morning!
New L3800 HST owner and new forum member. Real excited about the new equipment. The tractor will be paired up with a Woods finishing mower and that will be its primary duty. Other equipment used around the place is a JD2210 and for fun a 1953 JD model 40. This is my first Kubota. Reputation, price, and dealer are the reason for selection. The tractor will be delivered this week and naturally I am out of town and will not be back home for another couple of weeks. I do have a question. When shopping for the tractor one dealer told me that the L3800 is in the process of being discontinued. Is there any truth to this? I felt like he just did not want to deal with me. Looking for years of good service from the new Kubota! Thanks,

Thanks. Now that you mention it the dealer did mention something about emissions but he didn't say anything about the L3800 series being discontinued.

Welcome to the forum eddiebob . . now that you are here I am no longer the FNG . . Thanks!! :)

I have a 2012 L3800HST I just purchased with 11.2 (now 13) hrs on it. The dealer is correct the L3800 is being discontinued as a model designation. The 2014 version has tier 4 emissions, and from what I have read here and elsewhere . . there are some pretty annoying teething problems with the emissions systems.

If I had not found this forum I probably would have purchased a 2014. Glad I didn't.

There is alot of knowledge here, stick around and join in . .

The model series will be discontinued but parts will still be widely available due to it still being a fairly recent tractor. So you have nothing to worry about as far as parts and service are concerned.

Thanks, guys. I am glad to get the pre 2014 emissions tractor. I still drive a 2005 diesel truck because of the lack of emissions equipment. I might put 100 hours a year on a tractor so (a lack of) parts and support do not really enter into my calculations. And for the purists I am one of the run OEM filters on whatever it is, be it tractor, truck, or ATV. Ed B

Yes, the L3800 is becoming end of Life. Dealers who have them in stock are selling at a great price. Only difference you will see between the two models is the 3901 has the new tier 4 diesel emissions, the loader is a LA525. In all basically the exact same Specs. I think most would rather have the 3800, since it does not have the extra emissions stuff.

I just took delivery of my new L3901 today. Hope it works out well, have no issues with the new emissions stuff installed.

Purchased my new tractor in late 2013...delivered and started using it in March 2014..Right at 53 hours/8.5 hours a month and just completed my first 50 hour service last week. My L3800 has done everything I've asked it to do plus a little more than expected. Cutting fields and timber lines is a breeze. The quick attach is a saver between FEL and fork changes. I would put on BXpanded Piranha teeth and bucket grab hooks as they come in very handy while working the property. Getting ready to rebuild a 6+ feet drain culvert bridge over a creek that will allow access to the back of property. Can't wait to see how it performs. You will not be disappointed in your tractor....Good Luck.
