I watched something on Utube last night, yeah I know,, good place to get information .
Anyways some guy with inside info stated that these are US drones, with nuclear detection equipment on board. Again, supposedly one or more of the letter agency's, think a suitcase nuke has been, or is being smuggled in the the US, and they are looking for it. And rather than cause mass panic they just let things go the way they are to cover the search up.

I suspect it is kids who sort of organized in a chat room/board. Registering? Very few kids would bother. Just like me never bothered to do so with Estes model rockets.
A lot of people buy cheapo ham radios and never get a license, even GMRS 'requires' the primary user to have a license. No license needed to buy any radio.

I don't have experience with the Chinese versions. But, the risk of quality is not worth the possible reward IF they are any good.
It's much more satisfying to make/ mod your own. And know the quality of the parts.

To be honest most of this one is Japan. The ones i have built lots of china japan for parts.

One theory is that they are seeing radiation spikes in certain areas. They are bigger military drones for monitoring the changes in radiation levels. Apparently there has been talk that north Korea has disassembled a small atomic bomb and smuggled the parts into the country. Now they could be assembling it near a major city. That could be the cause of higher radiation levels showing up in densely populated areas. Seing they are military they have no restrictions and can monitor the radiation levels anywhere without adhering to faa rules.

I'd think it's the size of them that kinda rules out them being 'kid's toys. 'Hobby' drones are small and AFFORDABLE and really, does Amazon have a listing for VW Bug sized drones let alone 'Suburban' class ???
Used to fire ESTES rockets off my RC airplane at surplus ballons filled with hydrogen...... sigh, I miss the old days...
