New F-350 Powestroke Sticker shock

Boy have prices changed I'm in the process of buying a new F-350 powerstroke 4x4 crew cab srw. . I'm replacing my 2001 powerstroke 4x4 the prices on new trucks has almost doubled in 15/16 years . I figure if I'm going to buy I'd better get everything I want Powerstroke, 4x4, Lariat crew cab short bed will be used to pull our 5Th wheel travel trailer. I'll keep my 2001 for a ranch truck , I hate to think what the next truck will cost me 15 years from now. I'm buying the truck through the fleet purchase plan and it's still going to be a hair over $60k out the door. Oh well can take the $$$ with ya .

Last year our work truck came in at 53k. Rubber mats, vinyl seats and everything HD. All go and no show. THEN add $1000 for topper, 7k for snowplow, but man what a truck.

You younger guys pay attention!!! The dollar you put back for retirement will be worth 10 cents by the time you get there. I paid $48,000 for my first house in the 80's and the same house today sold for $125,000.

House i sold for 48 is on the market now 11 years later for 89.

My buddys kid bought a midrange chevy for 48,000. Her boyfriend took home a Denali for 78,000. Both gas jobs.

My last truck was 400 bucks. 3 years ago, 1000 in parts to safety tune up and it hasnt let me down ever.

Saw a loaded lifted crew cab chevy shortbox diesel on dealers lot for 108,000
For a truck?
Whats sick about that is the only thig it may ever haul is someones lunch..

I paid 80k for the house I'm living in now in 1983 the house now is worth 765k that's the beauty of livening in Ca. I own 3 homes in Ca there better than a savings account . But I still maxed out my 401k when I was working The power company was good to me . Life is good in retirement . I still don't like paying what they want for these new trucks.

I've been looking for a used truck myself, a half ton is plenty enough for me. Even the used trucks are way over priced in my opinion. A loaded GMC 3 years old over $30k?!? I feel bad for the poor bastard that bought it at new at $45k and got $25k in trade 3 years and 36k miles later. I've got my eyes on a new tundra, but at $45k it's too much to swallow. Used prices on Toyotas are not far from new, uness you want one at 100k miles for over $20k. Downsize to a tacoma and it's not too far off of a tundra, plus they don't get much better gas millage for half the truck. Used tacomas hold their value like I've never seen before, I can't understand why someone would buy one used. I'll probably get another beater or fix the one I'm driving, like TJ,to get a few more years out of it.

The best retirement fund going is buying property on the cheap, rent it, and hope the renters don't destroy the place before you can sell it for a profit. It's either that or hope the stock market doesn't crash with your 401k fully invested in it. People ask me how I can deal with renters, I ask how can you deal with the thieves on Wall St?

Well I pulled the trigger today bought my new Super Duty F-350 powerstroke Lariat 4X4 crew cab, I pick it up tomorrow afternoon felt good about the deal . I got them to cut $8000 off the sticker price and I got them to throw in the 8 year 125000 mile extended warranty . They were very good to deal with it was one of the last 2016 Super duty F-350s to be had in our area as the 2017 are being delivered. . I feel I got a good deal and I really guess that's all that matters, even tho it was more than the first house I bought in 1983. I'll be putting it to the test next month headed to Montana mule deer hunting.

I certainly hope so my friend my 2001 Powerstroke was a great truck , I just wanted a new truck as the wife and I are pulling the 5th wheel a lot these days being retired and like they say you can't take the money with ya.

Same here. I went 6 weeks ago to look at upgrading my 2003 2500 Cummins to an F-350 for the additional tow power. I was floored by the price.

Ended up with a Caribou brown F-350 Lariat SRW. Love the truck minus the tiny 29 gallon fuel tank and the less than impressive fuel economy compared to my old Cummins.

Ended up with a Caribou brown F-350 Lariat SRW. Love the truck minus the tiny 29 gallon fuel tank and the less than impressive fuel economy compared to my old Cummins.

We got the 25 gallon tank in our 2013 F250 diesel. Ended having a 45 gallon external tank installed into the bed of the truck. Doesn't interfere with a goose neck set up in the bed, and increased the distance between fuel stops considerably.

A few months back, I took it to San Antonio TX, drove around for a week, and finally had to stop for fuel around Texarkana on my way home Distance between fill up's was around 950 miles unloaded. 800 pulling a loaded trailer.

BCBull, your 2001 is nowhere near the 2016/17. It doesn't matter how big your 5er is, you won't know it's there.

My son in law has a 6.7 Powerstroke and he was saying you won't get good mileage till 6000 to 7000 miles. My 2001 Powerstroke was the same way. I do love the new truck and Caribou brown is a gorgeous color but to har for me to keep clean so I went with another white one.

BCBull, your 2001 is nowhere near the 2016/17. It doesn't matter how big your 5er is, you won't know it's there.

That's a good thing my 2001 handle it well I had the Banks kit on it but this 6.7 has some real torque.
