DO NOT get the ballast box shown below. Mine came with the tractor and the top angles out just enough to interfere with the quick hitch. I plan on welding some on some flat stock and moving the bottom pins back a few inches. You could always make your own too, or a carry-all.
I have Pat's Quick Hitch specifically so it would work with that type of box. I remember the days of trying to get implements to line up...what a P.I.T.A.
Pinning on implements when using a farm tractor that pulls the same implement for a month...sure, but for a Sub-Compact Tractor where implements are used a handful of hours and changed out? Nah.
The other game-changer is a hydraulic top-link. Doing landscaping I might need a short ballast box so the tractor fits tight spots and/or can go through ravines whereas an implement would bottom out, Then switch to a flail mower and cut some stuff down. Then a chipper and feed it some trees, all within the span of a few days. Not having to spin the OEM link to the right spot...huge win. Plus if picking up a log and needing more ballast the ballast box can be tilted out/back, for crossing a ravine in/up.
I'm still working with Summit Hydraulics on the hydraulic side-link "kit" situation. Once that's installed the 3-point should have a lower pickup point and hopefully the ballast box won't need to sit on a riser in order to grab it.
Other than that, yeah, I need an M6. Who doesn't?
Well, I'd
like an M6 but a far better option is an orange mini-excavator. As tiny as a BX is, it sure can do a lot of work on homeowner-sized properties!
