The power take off horse power is rated at 12hp. Theoretically that means you don’t want to go too large with the hp requirements of the post hole digger. Having said that, I’ve been using a Danuser on my 7300 rated for minimum 20hp but I’ve been able to turn a 9” x 36” auger with no problem as long as I dig about 12” at a time and bring it back up to clean the hole. The 16” auger that also came with the deal is a different story. I can dig a 12” deep hole with little problem. After that it’s tough. Also, you want to tighten the swing arms down so there’s as little side to side movement as possible. Finally, keep a big pipe wrench and even an extension pipe in case you get stuck on a rock or root. With no reverse on the PTO, you need to manually back that sucker out. A real PIA but after awhile you learn to feel obstructions by the seat of your pants. Don’t hurry it and you’ll be fine.
My neighbor has a newer bota with 16hp at the PTO but his tractor hogs down with with my auger. Could be other reasons for that, I don’t know. He ended up buying a PHD with a proper HP requirement but the brand only has 30” long augers.
The 7300 is a great little tractor. Enjoy it.
