Hello this is Zach and I just bought a new B2620 with a 60" mmm and just joined the forum so I figured I'd introduce myself real quick.
My wife and I live in central IL on an acre with quite a bit of plowing to do in the winter and pretty much the entire acre needs to be landscaped.
I bought a used 2001 21hp White (mtd) zero turn tractor for $175 and have been mowing and plowing with that for the last 2 years. This year I knew the mower was on its last leg as I had a small issue with it just about every other week. Then I went to mow last Sunday after church and the mower was toast, one of the valve guides pressed out of one of the heads and the mower just wasn't worth putting any more time or money into...... So it was time to figure out what to do for a replacement (as we got 3" of rain that day LOL) I've been dreaming about a Kubota since we bought the property but didn't think we'd get one........
I work as an industrial mechanic so I'm fixing things all day long, which I enjoy, Its just different when its other peoples broken equipment you are fixing and other peoples money you are spending LOL. So we decided we wanted to either get something new or a good quality used tractor instead of another project.
We quickly decided that a lawn tractor wasn't a good fit, and a garden tractor would get the job done, but that's a lot of money to spend on something with such limited capabilities.
So then we decided that in the long run a sub compact or compact tractor would be our best bet, plus in the next 5 years or so we'd like to buy 5 acres or so to build on eventually.
We started looking for a good used sub compact or compact tractor with a mmm and a loader, which turns out is nearly impossible to find. Our last stop was one of the local Kubota dealers and all he had used was a top of the line B series and also and L series, both way out of our price range.
That's when he quoted us a BX2660 which was a little more than we wanted to spend, but it gave us something to think about and got the wheels spinning........
We just renovated and moved into this house, from a smaller house at which we did the same and we are selling the old house and will be making a nice profit. Most of that money will be going to pay off the wife's student loans. We'll she was feeling a little guilty that I did all the work to the house, so she said, why not use the rest of the money to get me a new tractor. That sounded like an offer I couldn't resist.
So now I really started researching hard what I wanted/needed and I kept coming back to Kubota.
The BX2660 would have been great for what we need now, but I was worried that depending on what we get for our next property it may be a tad on the small side so I started looking at the B series. The B2320 really seemed to fit the bill well without breaking the bank too bad.
So we were all set to get the b2320, but they didn't have any in stock , but he said he could trade with another dealer and get us one.................... or............... He had a B2620 in stock which was like $1400 more. Of coarse I got an evil eye from the wife LOL, but we were able to talk him down to only $500 more for the tractor and 60"mmm plus I got him to throw in a block heater. I really think it was worth the extra money for the larger engine and slightly larger tractor.
Today they are working on un-crating the tractor and installing the mmm and they should be delivering it Monday or Tuesday, and I can't wait.
I'll be saving up some money and getting a loader for it this fall. I also may be getting a box scraper for $100, I have a co-worker who's dad bought a lot of 3 point implements and doesn't need the box scraper. I've also seen all the homemade implements people are doing and we have a nice stash of scrap steel and cut offs at work for "government" projects at work that I've been sizing up LOL. I'd also love to have a backhoe, but that's just a lot of $$$$ to spend.....
I'll post a couple pictures when I get the tractor.
