Picked up a Sitrex FS250 Fertilizer, Seed Spreader today, $120.00 could not pass it up.
Needs some paint, new decals and has a small ding in about 8" of the hopper.
Will be great for over-seeding the land and salt/sand distribution in the winter.
Yeah he said he just replaced the PTO shaft and paid close to what I offered him, he was asking 150, but I'm not one to pay asking price and I know Julie don't always like that. But she's learning. I had no idea they cost that kind of money I've never bought one everything just came with one.
What a bargain!! My similar one is pushing 25 yrs old and on its last legs. The bottom end is rusting out. A patch job this spring is extending its life a few more years hopefully. No matter how clean you try to keep it.....fertilizer has a way of starting the rusting process!
Pressure wash it after every use, and if it is powder coated, then it will rust under the powder coating. I had one that lasted about 5 years, before the rust worms made it unusable. For the price you paid, you got a bargain.
I plan on just using it for seed, I don't see a need for the fertilizer at this point. Just want to reseed the property. Thinking about sand/salt mixture for the winter, that will definitely require lots of cleaning.
It is not powder coated, I'm going to have to strip and repaint just to get it to the point I like it. The PO said he only used it for seed also. Could be the truth who knows. I'll still go through it and make it to my liking before I use it.
Plasti Dip®on the spreading rate and adjustment levers.....
Reassembled.....
Mounted on L1500DT.....
New decals applied.....
Moved the location of the spreading adjustment lever,
all the photos online showed it below not to the side of
the lever, added the missing serial number decal.
Bill, do you know if the "250" is its capacity in pounds or kilos? I'm looking at a very similar one made by Rankin, a PL-500 (500 lbs). The pic of yours on your tractor shows it to be quite large; if it's a 250-pound model it might be the right size for me and not the 500. Mine will be used for sand for the winter.
