I just added a 60" Grapple to my 2024 L47, The problem I have is that it reacts to quickly.
Is there anyway to slow the response time down.
Is the 3rd function valve adjustable, this thing is slamming open and shut.
Thanks for any guidance.

It looks like the fixed .031 1/2 restrictor from BoltonHooks would fit well.
But how do I know the fixed .031 would be a good flow rate for my aplication and would I need 1 or two.

That's why I like a Needle valve, they are adjustable... but to be fair, once I set it, I've never even thought about re-adjusting it!

You can get needle valves that work in either a single direction or both directions. I think the ones you want only work in both directions so you need only one. (I think) {edit} I defer to Kennyd4110 below!!!!

I had a disc mower I bought used. Had to do some repairs and when I went to use it it SLAMMED to the ground. When I called the Vicon repair shop the guy told me right off, the problem was someone took out the restrictor because it was too slow for that farmer. That caused the entire head to drop way too fast.

My local dealer didn't have a restrictor, but he could order one. Cost was $56. I bought a hyd. fitting that would fit in the line and filled the inside with my wire welder. The hole I left open was very small and just a guess. Worked fine for 10 years and was in it when I sold it.

I've had an EA Wicked 60 for a few years now and use it on both the M6060 and MX6000, and used it on my first MX6000 which was an open station model. I've never found the speed of the grapple to be an issue either opening or closing, but your L47 has a much higher hydraulic oil flow rate of 25.0 gpm compared to 9.5 gpm and 11.0 gpm for the MX and M respectively. So is this the reason for the excessive speed that I've never experienced?

They just seem to be a great size fir most compact tractors. Adjustable ones are not without issues, often they won't stay where you set them, they take up more room, aren't always available in the thread style needed so you need extra adapters compounding that problem, and they are more fragile.

and would I need 1 or two.
From our FAQ on the restrictor page:

  1. Do I need one or two restrictors on each function? In most cases, one is sufficient, but two are better, and here is why: There are different volumes of fluid on each side of the piston inside of a cylinder, this causes different pressures (or ‘force’) to push the fluid through the small orifice (hole) in the restrictor, so the cylinder may move at different speeds while extending and retracting. Using two, one one each side, can help balance that.
