New 25-06

I won a 25-06 at a Ca Deer Hunters BBQ a few weeks ago and have found a great load for it. I'm loading a 100 grain Barnes TTSX with 59.5 grains of MagPro powder with a Fed 215 primer. This will be my antelope / deer gun and any coyote that shows his self. First target photo is my 100 yard group second target photo is my 200 yard group. I'll pound a few coyotes between now and deer season at the ranch see them almost daily without calling.

Better groups than I'm getting with my M77 MkII. I didn't fuss with it at all though. Figured 3/4" at 100 was good enough Running Ramshot Magnum. It shoots 100 grain triple shocks and 100 grain interlocks to the same point of impact at 100 yards.

Howa aka Japanese Sako

I believe Howa makes barrels for Weatherby as well. I have a Vanguard 2 in .243 that is a great shooter.

They make the whole Vanguard and they made the Smith and Wesson 1500. I'm pretty sure that the Nosler rifles are a heavily modified Howa as well.

Impressive groups - wow! The 200 yard group really impresses me.

You definitely found the bullet/load combination for that gun!

Years ago, all my buds shooting woodchucks around here were using 52 gr. Speer (?) bullets in their .22-250's .

My Remington Model 700 Varmint Special hated them - 2" groups at 100, no matter the power load I tried.

Ended up with a 55 gr. spitzer (Sierra?) and 36 gr. IMR 4064 powder. Was doing 3900 FPS +/- at muzzle. Perfect!

It's great to find that sweet spot!

That's the next rifle I want is the 28 Nosler , I've read a few articles on it and it would make a great sheep and high country deer rifle. I said I want , needing is another thing but you can never have to many rifles.

Load development is almost as much fun as the hunt itself, my 22-250s shot 55 grain Sierras with 36 grain of H380 with a Fed 215 primer . I really feel the Fed 215 primer was a much better match for the H380 than the Fed 210. The 22-250s would shoot 1/2" groups great load.

With regards to the above bolded.

Indeed it is and it applies in more areas than the above. I have a passion for hunting whitetail deer but it is not the kill I seek but the entire process.

Planting food plots with friends, hanging stands, spending hours walking and looking for sign, tracking through photos the health of our herd, and the practice of QDM.

For example today my 2 year old and I after work today have a date night which begins at the farm putting out new salt licks and 3 cameras to see what the little guys have on there heads. Sure we will get pics of little bucks, does, turkeys, racoons, etc. After couple hours at the farm off to have dinner, can't wait and she loves to go to the "deer land".

She enjoys our shooting range as well and has her on ear protection and safety glasses she wears. Even at 1 1/2 could ask her what the gun says and she would say "POW".
