I should know better My oil idiot light is out on my L3800. I assumed it must be the lamp itself. Just before I pulled the dash apart I decided to check the sender. With the ignition switch on I jumped the wire going to the oil switch to ground. Magic! The light comes on.
Saved me some 'I'm an idiot' later on.
